I remember reading a few articles and even...the FFXII strategy guide...indicate that FFXII has three primary racial groups: Hume, Seeq, and Banga...

But what about the Garriff?
Are they humes?
 
Garif are as individual as any 'class,' they just recently (according to game-time) ceased their interaction with the humes due to their conflict with one another. They're just another humanoid.

As the Seeq are to Seeq, the Garif are to Garif. No other way to put it really. xD
 
That's quite wrong there as Moogles, Garif and Viera are as big a race as humes, seeq and bangaa are.

Cant belive they left out the moogles, pretty sure I've seen more moogles in the game than I saw bangaa/seeq
 
So how many races are there in FFXII?
So far we have:

Hume
Moogle
Banga
Seeq
Vierra
Garriff


There's also those blue guys...what are they called?
The ones who control fate or whatever.

They were originally a parasitic crustation, but evolved into a form of humanoid. So yes, I suppose they are.

Seeq
Humes
Garif
Moogles
Viera
Urutan-Yensa
Occuria (although technically not a race, but I'll throw it in anyway.)


Those just sound like names of entities, Sephirothalpha.
 
Very well... but why did you previously ask if they could be considered a race, then?
 
That is the website that told me that Viera could live three times longer than a hume.
 
I would only define those as a race who have a sort of civilization. Otherwise you can call al monster a race. The Urutan Yensa have some sort of civilization (riding on those sandfish is a nice example + they can talk) but the others mentioned just dont seem to have one imo.

BTW: Anyone know what race the attendants of Ondore are? Those guys who have some sort of a Lion face.

And I'm also wondering what Migelo is, I dont think he's a Bangaa.

Yeah, Migelo's not a bangaa and I have no idea what he is. o_O
There's also so many other races in this world of Ivalice than the almighty FFXII guide seems to divulge. :P

And those Nu Mou things, I consider them a race because they're all too different from any other race in Ivalice. You know, like the ones on Mt. Bur-Omisace. xD
 
Nu Mou's should count as a race, i think, since they're in Tactics Advance and have a more defined culture in there. Gotta remember, XII takes place a long time before Tactics Advance, so the Nu Mou probably havent had much of a chance to expand beyond Mt. Bur Omisace.

I thought Migelo was a Bangaa? And the Ondore look normal to me o_O

And those Baknamy just look some sort of deviation of the Garif race.
 
Nu Mou's were in Tactics Advanced? I'm actually really glad to hear that. They looked like such an interesting race but nothing was really done with them. I remember the one FMV showed them on some distant shore as something was blowing up... and yet you never ever went to the shore on which they were standing.

Well he looks like one, but for some reason I feel that he isn't. He has those huge eyes that doesn't seem like a bangaa's for one. xD

And the Ondore...those are the lion-looking race from Bhujerba, right? I consider them a different race as well.
 
They are - they're a cat like race, I think their race name is on wiki. Migelo is a bangaa - he looks like one, he's just very old.
