So what did you think of it?

To me it was great. An alien from outer apce was to destroy the human race because they were killing the Earth. But then he saw the other side of humans and he decided to give us anither chance. I wonder what happens after though.

I was hoping that the alien will fall in love with Helen :P that's too bad.

I am dying to see this film, all my mates said it was brilliant. Its also been ages since iv seen Keanu Reeves in a film so im looking forward to seeing how he performs. Im too skint at the moment to even go to the cinema to watch it but as soon as i get paid thursday im heading straight for the vue.

You should defenetly see it. It's an amazing movie. Sorry I sort of spoiled the movie on that last bit.
Anyone else should go see it and write your comment on what you think of the movie here.

I just did a small review for this in the last movie you saw thread. So I don't wont to ramble too much about it, but I thought it was an ok movie. I really dug the special effects, I thought they were pretty cool. I just thought that the script needed to be improved a little.

I think they messed up quite badly with the message of this movie. Despite the fact I left the cinema with a lot of questions about humans as a race, the raw message of the movie was confused. Let me explain why.

Klaatu came to Earth to consult with Earth's leaders about the environmental destruction of the planet. The Earth was dying because human beings were completely wrecking it with their selfish ways. Great angle to work with, I really liked this plot idea.

However, why does Klaatu finally change his mind and want to save humans? Because he saw the love between Helen and the boy?!?!?! Saw that they could admit they were wrong?!?!? I don't get it, it had absolutely nothing to do with the environmental destruction of the Earth. Yes it showed humans could change but only on a level of human interaction. It had nothing to do with the big picture. The kid finally expressesed his pent up grievances and they hugged and she would risk her life to save him. It was a very superficial way for Klaatu to change his mind, it showed absolutely no link with humans giving up their greed and power lust. There was no evidence that humans would stop destroying the world. Because in all honesty, thats just what we do, we destroy stuff in order to survive and advance. He took away our technology. Big deal, we are just going to do the same things all over again. Its been proven over and over again in history, that we make the same mistakes which ultimately come to bite us in the ass.

If they had of just stuck with the original idea I think that this movie would have been a lot cooler. But it was wrapped up in a very easy and kind of lame way.

I liked that that it left the audience with questions about our existence and purpose. Nice social commentary but as an entertaining movie, I don't know. Sure there was alot of stuff being blown up and destroyed, always cool. But I felt the substance of the film to be slightly lacking and the acting wasn't overly great. Keanu Reeves was ok, Connelly was ok, Bates was ok...everyone was ok. I think that was the problem, there was no outstanding acting, everyone did enough to carry the movie. But, it seemed to lacking some emotional depth to the characters and I think this may have more to do with the script than the actors themselves.

Overall I would give this movie a 5, it would have scored higher if they had of resolved some of the issues I expressed.

I loved this movie.

Keanu was so eerie sometimes it scared me.

I was confused at first at what he was doing with all those spheres he was placing everywhere, but it soon became clear.

I was kind of annoyed that he gave in and saved humans in the end though.

I mean...a little scare is not going to turn us into saints and do everything the right way.

He was doing the right thing and he ruined it by giving in. It was nice to see that he had emotions, but still.

Great movie and the idea was brilliant, but the ending was too predictable.

'If the Earth dies you die.'
'If you die, the Earth survives.'
