I’m not saying I want to be a mod, before any of you grumble.

Okay, I know this has been done before, concerning general section mods, but not much has been said towards the ‘focus’ of this site, which is of course Final Fantasy. Of course I’m not saying that the GMods do a bad job, heck, they do an excellent job in keeping the forums in check (in my opinion), but there seriously hasn’t even been an FF section mod in a while.

Because I’m a senior member I can see when threads and posts have been deleted and a lot of sections in the FF-based parts of the boards have at least 2 threads deleted, while nearly all the threads have a post deleted, often large amounts such as 3 or 4. This sort of Spam has really put me off from going into the FF section as much as I used to.

Sure we have the report button, but those who choose not to scan the FF section as thoroughly as they should won’t be able to report them if they’re busy hanging out in Costa Del Sol or somewhere else, will they?
And besides, it’s only really a select few individuals who actually devote a lot of time, perhaps even exclusively devotes time, for the FF sections of the boards.

I know theres been several threads like this before - heck even some date back to before April, but they've all ended with the generic reply "the staff will discuss this" and nothings been done, so don’t close this. Members have a right to have their opinions too, and it’s a growing problem that needs to be addressed - not brushed off".

There’s my opinion.

If you do answer with that reply, at least I, but much more appropriately I should say 'we', would like an update on that situation before you do so. ^_^

To be completely honest, we've been in talks about filling this position for a while. I expect Busta to update you guys on this sooner or later.

We're just waiting for the right time.

lol Since I don't really care, I'll just blurt it out carelessly. We've been looking to Rydia and AG to fill those spots. Rydia didn't accept her position until last night when Busta and I sent her many a stalker phone call and txt message until she agreed. haha pwnd. Anyhow, those two should be into those spots shortly. The only major problem is the approval of one key person... he is the boss and it's not Tony Danza. Take a guess. Thanks for the concern though.

It was suppose to be filled already.
But I have to say with all the drama building up in this forum, Im glad we haven't just yet.
With all the drama as of late, it makes good proving grounds to test the qualifications of members and nominated mods.

EDIT: sigh, nice ninja post AT. haha

I think it would definitely be good to have FF section mods, as the FF section is so grievously filled with spam. We have needed this for quite sometime now really.

Warbourne does have a good point to be honest and I agree with what he's saying here. I say aye.

Well let's all be honest (staff to member honesty).
You remember how we discussed that little "RPG notice for new members"? Do you remember how long ago we all discussed that? No? Did you forget about it because it was so long ago?

There are a lot of things that are passed through the staff forums that don't get taken care of. Even the criticism thread has been discussed before (which we're actually doing something about).

I personally wish that the members would have a bigger influence on the forum responsibilities.

But what exactly do you want to do, Warb?

If you see spam in the FF section, report it. I believe you've been told this on multiple occasions. It's not only the job of the moderators to keep this place clean. Just click a button and help us out, ok?

Actually I was thinking the same thing, what with the members having more influence in helping the spam clean-up. But there's really nothing that comes to mind except for the report button, to be honest.

What else can we do, that doesn't involve tweaking the forum to allow more member reporting power (which I'm sure isn't even possible xD), to get members involved?

No clue.

And Aztec, I've been using that report button since 2 months ago. xD
You also said it yourself, only a couple of people actually bother to hit that button when they spot spam. I'm also seeing trends where one person merely replies to an above spammy post, thereby pushing the thread off topic.

Anyways, I wasn't really suggesting much else than resolve the lack of mods issue. xD
I was only looking for an update, as I'm sure others are too. :monster:

lol I know you do Warb. It's appreciated. I just wish people would abuse that damn report button. Use it so much I have to sift through dozens of reports when I got online. Instead I'll get about 4-6 every morning and a few more throughout the day. It's just slow and it's not enough to catch all the crap that's going on.

Yes, I have been working on getting at least 2 people to mod the FF sections for quite some time now, the staff and AG can attest to that. All I'm waiting for is some drama to die down. AG was ready to be promoted as soon as Survivor was up, but then this whole deal with drama popped up this week, so things have been put on hold.

It's like the teacher trying to get the attention of her students. She's not going to continue with her lesson until the students calm down, stop fighting, and start behaving. This goes to both members AND staff alike. I've told a few people today, Riku was one of them, that I am not happy with many members AND STAFF who helped contribute to the upheaval this week. This goes to Aztec as well as the other staff members who contributed to publicly bash him. I would like to point out that Melancholy Rockit/Holic and a few others did a well job trying to keep the peace and not add flame to the fire. Thank you.

I've had many PM exchanges with people involved in the incident, some scoldings, but in the end still ending on a good note with everyone. This is FFF. Want to fight with someone? Go find a younger sibling or some prick who stole your girlfriend/boyfriend; not someone on here. This shit has to stop.

Prepare for changes made soon in many aspects of the site. DB contacted me a while back about Changes he wants to make now that the site is a year old. Staff addition, descriptions, etc... I have faith in the staff we have here, the members we are looking to add, as well as each and every member who posts here at FFF, because you are the reason we do our jobs.

Peace out.

I've only skimmed over the thread so far, but it seems that something's actually getting done about it this time around which is excellent to hear.

I feel that this is something that should be thrown into the mix though. The staff set up of the forum is ridiculous. Our most active Admin doesn't even have full ACP access. The GMods have no ACP access, which is absurd. The GMods technically aren't GMods; they have SMod duties but are incapable of doing them to any effect because they only have Section Mod capabilities. Technically, our only GMod is MR/Holic, as he has assigned forums (Midgar and Spira), one of which has large sections already overseen by our only two Section Mods. I know nobody except DB can rectify that but it needs to be addressed soon.

I think its great that Rydia and Aerith Gainsborough are considered as section mods, but i think it would actually be better to mod them now, so they could could help control the drama... Just my opinion though...

The thing is, the drama wont die down even if they're modded right now.
Everyone knows its going to happen sooner or later so everyone please be patient.

They have been modded now but I'm still looking for a few more to cover some key areas to make it less of a hassle on the overall staff. This is always a concern and is always being talked about and thought up.

I'll close this now, but stay tuned in the near future for more news on this issue.
