So I've never bass fished but I do fish for trout every year. My dad has gone salmon fishing once and I heard it was an incredibly fun time. I'd love to go now that I'm older. (He went when I was only like 8 years old)

Anyhow, we have the standard affair of trout in Pennsylvania. Brookies, Brown, and Rainbow trout mostly. My dad and I travel up to see his father at the start of every fishing season. We usually make it a few day trip, so that the streams aren't nearly as crowded a few days in. It really makes for a peaceful time.

I think I've been going every year since I was about 5 or 6. I think I've missed 2 years total due to a cold or prior engagement. It's a fun time and a great way to clear your head. I love standing knee deep in the stream, trying to cast to the edge of the current, and letting your line drift downstream. You take in the sights and sounds of the wilderness... and your allergies kick up and you find your pockets full of used tissues. >.>

I really do love it though. It's a great time. I wish I could do it more.

My fishing experiences aren't as great. My father and several of my brothers are big fishermen, but I could never get into it. I went several times and generally got bored. I understand that it's a waiting game and patience is important, but I love to keep active (not physically, but it's why I'm a gamer) and I just found myself praying for a bite just so that I could have something to do. I rarely caught anything at all. It was only small stuff anyway, perch and the like.

But even though I got bored back then, I believe that I could now find it rather peaceful and I might even enjoy it if I went again. I might just have to. But I don't think I'll try my hand at sea fishing....ever.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and we had a cabin on the Carr Inlet, part of the Puget Sound. Great salmon fishing there. We stood on the beach (such as it was), about ankle/calf deep in the water and just spincasted using corn as bait. You could pull 12-16 ounce cutthroat out of the water that way. I don't have the patience to fish any more, unfortunately. Just kind of grew out of it.

I've only fished twice in my lifetime and I was pretty shit at it, I don't think I've ever caught anything besides little bitch fish that were about five centimetres long. It's a shame the site didn't become a fishing site, I might have been able to learn a thing or two :wacky:

I've only being fishing twice as well, I have to admit it's the most boring and depressing thing I've ever done, you just sorta sit there waiting for things to bite which is kinda shite, I guess it might be more interesting if it was in the sea or there were lots of fish, but I'd never fish again regardless. :awesome:

I love going fishing. I live right down the road from Lake Michigan, so you can imagine what the culture of fishing is like there. Someday I want to give deep sea fishing a try, maybe catch a few Sailfish, and a Blue Fin Tuna or two. =P
