My brother plays this game a lot. It looks awesome and lame at the same time.

Building up an army of robotic comrades and missiles looks fun, but it doesn't appeal to me much. Strategy games aren't my thing, I suppose.

Meh, I don't even know why I like strategy gaming.
Or Star Craft, I forgot how I got into that.

Maybe it's because of the war aspect of the genre.
'Warbourne', get it?

I've never heard of Starcraft 64, so my guess would be no.
But then again, I don't know everything.
Ask Chaos Theory.

HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I CREATED THIS THREAD? HOW MANY TIMES HAS IT GONE DOWN THE DRAIN! NOW SOMEONE ELSE CREATES IT AND IT'S SUCCESFULL!? Grrrrr.....

But yeah, I love this game. Nothing beats the Dark Archons. Once I MC your drone or SCV, you are screwed man, totally and utterly screwed.

Yeah the cheat kind of ruined the game, but that was the fun part about it! Trying to beat it without the cheats. I'm not so sure if I could it nowadays, having not played in well over 2 years.

I agree. The only cheat that made the game remain challenging was
black sheep wall
, the one that showed you the whole map. The computer sees the whole map anyways, so it made it kind of fair.

But I rarely use cheats anymore. they take all the challenge out of the game.

They are coming out with Starcraft 2, with another race (possibly more than one) and more units for each race. I just hope they bring in the Xel'Naga and that hybrid race. That would be sweet, seeing Kerrigan's face as the Hybrid just slaughtered her whole damn race.

But there's no StarCraft 64. There was StarCraft Ghost, and I think that one (with Nova as the main character) was a 1st person shooter, but that's the only other StarCraft game out there.

hello, I feel like I should correct what you've said Hera :D

Blizzard said there will be the same three races as before with the same number of units in each race as before, but they could suprise us I hope cause it was kind of disappointing to hear no hybrids.

And also there was a Starcraft 64 and no Starcraft Ghost.

Really hope it comes out this year :)

I was thinking about pick up a copy of Starcraft. I'm not sure though. I heard mixed opinions about it. If you like Warcraft 3 then you'll like Starcraft, or Starcraft is a crappy verison of Warcraft 3.

starcraft2

ok i really want this game it looks really cool

there are definitely more than one new units man. Check out www.starcraft2.com. There are new units and everything, but I've only see the new ones for the Protoss so far.

@Mystrila

Definitely pick up StarCraft, StarCraft: BW, and StarCraft: Insurrection

Also, SC2 is coming out in a couple years, not this year. Sad really...

hey i play this all of the time i learned how the computer plays so you would think that i was a computer set on insain mode if you went against me

I don't see how you would have it since it's still in production and not coming out til next year (or with Blizzard, probably 2050).

But yeah I'm looking forward to it...

Watched the demo video and the promo trailer out also a major Star Craft fan so when it comes out in stores I will be there trying to get my hands on a copy.

XN

Oh, I've known a lot of gamers who are that good, but since I am untested on online strategy, I have no clue how good I would fare against any of you.

Though, I have set my difficulty levels to the most difficult every second playthrough of the campaign mode.

I really liked the first Starcraft. I was decent but never elitist like some of the players I knew... and definitely not Godlike like the Koreans. lol But the second one looks great and I can't wait to give it a whirl... if my PC can handle it, that is.

Starcraft was my life in the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade.
My friends and I would play it nonstop everyday after school.

We had a cool clan and were pretty high on rankings.

I can't wait for Starcraft 2.
I'm taking a week off from work. lol

I loved Dark Archons mind control :(
...that is when used in conjunction with 'The Gathering' :smartass:
I built 3 different bases over the map and basically pwned every other difficult AI there was....but oh well, it sucks without that cheat anyway.

Yea, that was about the dumbest thing you've ever said Adamant. The mind control was great when you got ahold of an enemy building unit. It was taxing on resources but if used right it really did wonders. The reason why is basically it was a game of rock, paper, scissors. One race had a lot of things to beat other races (EMP Shockwave just destroyed Protoss) but if you had two races that complimented one another well then you were set. Usually it was just Protoss + Terran against Zerg or Protoss + Zerg against Terran.

For about 10 minutes, until you realized it was nothing but a novelty. It's best used on super units like Carriers and Battlecruisers, not wimpy units like SCVs.

No, it isn't. All races can perform equally against each other if you use them correctly.

Maybe if you're a complete noob, or have no experience with the game on anything other than single player with cheats on, this may be true. However, in COMPETITIVE multiplayer games, if you're stupid enough to try to make a second base with another race you will get your ass kicked before you know whats happening to you. The enormous waste of resources on gaining all new technologies isn't worth spending considering the 200 supply max is more than enough to beat any player.

Maybe you should get some actual experience with the game before you start calling me dumb, Aztec. There's a REASON the best Starcraft players in the world don't use that strategy- it doesn't work!
