Square: Final Fantasy XIII in the “last stage of development” for US and Europe

Square Enix global president Yoichi Wada has revealed today that development on Final Fantasy XIII has been “going very steadily” for the US ane European versions and that they’re “just adding the final touches” to the game.

“We’ve completed the master of the Japanese version, and for the US and European versions we’re just adding the final touches,” Wada told GI.biz. “The last stage of development has gone very smoothly this time.
“It took us a tremendous amount of time to develop the software for this generation, so that’s a lesson for the creators.”

Perhaps Final Fantasy XIII will launch much sooner than we thought? We’ll have to see come this Friday, when both a US and European announcement will be made on the game.

*Jumps up* Yay! I can't believe that it's so close to coming out. I haven't been this excited since Dissidia. (Hopefully, this will be even better)

I'd wager that at the very latest FFXIII will be released in March, this news, plus the annoucement plus what Kitase/Wada said about the fiscal 2009 release all seems to tie in quite nicely together. Though I still think it will be released in 2010.

Hmm, I think this verifies for me that it won't be out in '09. Final touches at this point, about a third of the way in November, doesn't mean that it'll be ready for sale by Dec. 31. I'd think there's some over-all testing and marketing stuff (see how business savvy I am ;D) still to be done.

Yeppers, I'm pretty sure FFXIII is still a 2010 release at the very least, but I applaud Square-Enix for doing their best to cut down on the localization time. At the very least, FFXIII will likely take half the time FF Dissidia took to get outside of Japan ^^

I cannot wait until Friday then. I really hope they up the launch date, I am really close to getting an XBOX 360 so yeah. *patiently waiting for Friday*

Friday? Can't wait. Yeah, it's definitely going to be sometime in 2010, but it's looking like early 2010, so that's not long at all. I don't think it'll be hard to shield myself from spoilers from the Japanese version.
