I for one will keep an eye out

Me too.

I personally think it would come under Final Fantasy too. Maybe a sequel to XI, who knows. Imagine XI-2, not impossible, actually, looking at X-2.

Thanks.

Even then, the possibility of it coming under a different name remains. They might feel inspired enough to stop the -2 ideas and call it XIV. I don't mind it either way..

For now, there isn't much news about it. So, probably a little too early to say. I guess they will still stick to the -2 idea though, despite everything.

Hehe.

I am so excited about this. I have played FFXI Online for many years, and it is a great game, the best MMORPG I've played in my life. So hearing Square Enix working on a new MMORPG makes me so hyper :P

Ill keep my eyes on it, but having sworn not to play another mmo until someone comes out with something other than a treadmill of boredom, I wont build my hopes up (since ff11 was a very bad treadmill for level/gear grinding)

one day they will get an mmo right, they will realise...the levels dont matter, levels are a bolt-on for people to enjoy in there own time, the story and the experience are what would and should count :)

Agreed. I enjoy MMO's... But I can never afford the time to level up. I've always wanted an MMO to be made there they have no levels, and just allow you to jump right into the game, and have it based on actions and skills rather than levels.
Things could be unlocked via quests etc, but u don't need to level up for months before departing on one.

Anyway, this could be a good MMO, but we don't know anything solid about it yet, so I don't know if I'll get it. Probably not as I have FF11 to get back on one day perhaps.

I've played a lot of mmo's over the years ranging from anarchy online, dark age of camelot, world of warcraft and warhammer online, along with lots of others in between including the korean grind-fest mmo's.

unfortunatley for me, the mmo system is very stale and out of date as the companies seem to be totally incapable of understanding what the audience want, either making the game much too short and not worth its money/time investment or overly grindy and boring.

the new-gen mmo's seem to fall into the trap of lets try to be the next WoW, which is precisely what people DONT want (gear to obtain gear, to obtain better gear and so on)

personally all I want is a good story that you feel like your a part of, with action and an experience you will want to be a part of with a good crafting system (npc's making stuff for you, making materials super rare or having the chance of losing expensive materials from failures are unexceptable)

I reckon my thoughts are one and the same with many, theres nothing wrong with leveling as long as leveling is seen as an experience in which you can constantly enjoy a wide range of content on rather than a hurdle stopping you from getting the real content, which is the trap many mmo's fall into....

I pray that the new square mmo will address these issues and avoid the easy money treadmill gaming trap that most mmo's fall into these days, but my confidence, to be totally honest....really isnt high on them doing what people want!

I've played FFXI and it was alright but I know Square Enix can do way better. It's just going to take more effort but when a good one comes out everyone will be playing it. I think it would even convert some WOW fans as well. I mean final fantasy has some of the most beautiful environments in gaming. So just converting those to mmorpg places would make me happy. They can do it and Im waiting for them to tackle it.

converting WoW fans is easy these days, most people that played WoW now hate it with a passion (black temple attunement and the arena was the final nail in the coffin for many), but the fanboi's/girlz that defend it to the hilt .....do we honestly and truthly want them? most of them are smack talking grieving morons that should have never picked up a joypad...never mind began playing mmo's :p

to get a Lions share of the market, square need to pull off something special...medicore just wont cut it as Mmo players are fed up with this standard and want the next DaoC/EQ to hurry its ass up out xD

Yeah... Leveling and such stuffs kills too much time... And like in FFXI, camping a HNM that spawns every 21-24 hours is just bullshit....

Another Online Square Enix game cool!!! Will it be Final Fantasy XI 2 or something like that? Or will it be a completely different title? Maybe it will be a completely new game but hopefully it is a FF game.

That's the question :P
