Squalls Ring GF (Challenge)

Well, a friend of mine told me that if you go through the whole game without using a GF in the final battle you can summon his ring (which you have to name) as a GF. That would explain why you have to name it.. (I know its the name of Ultima-whatever's GF).

So I was wondering if anyone wanted to take the challenge of going through the game without a GF. You would need to record it though lol

I just thought it might be fun to see..
I would do it but my Disc 1 freezes at Dollet when you jump onto the boat.
 
I never really got why you named the ring but that would make sense though. I don't think i could take just going through the game without using a GF. would make the battles far to slow and without a junctioned GF you can't use magic.
 
I've never heard of this but that ring you name (Griever) is supposedly the best GF and
Ultimecia summons Griever in the final boss fight.
 
I don't think I can ever do what you are asking, bud.
GF's are too important in my overall FFVIII strategy that it's impossible for me to scratch them out.
I mean, they came in handy whenever I felt I was going to lose a battle.

But it is interesting, though, what you are saying along with that.
I was wondering what was the point of Griever.
 
Now that's got me wondering. What exactly was the point of that ring besides to be given to Rinoa to strengthen the bond between her and squall.........................OH WAIT! if ultimecia summoned griever then...........THAT RING MUST BE A GF AND ULTIMECIA MUST BE RINOA!

why didn't i think of this before i mean it makes absolute sense. since Rinoa enherits Edea socceress powers.

and the name. Griever...which is derived from grief. Squall must've died or somethin and she must've had the ring and when that happen it must've triggered the GF.....
 
lol Yeah I think you can juction them just not summon..
But it would be real cool if it is true
 
This may seem out there but I can confirm that that does not do anything special as I never use GFs. Though obviously because of that fact I've never had the GF Summon ability equiped on the last battle. I'll grab my old file and check it out.
 
Wait, go through the whole game without junctioning or enter the boss fightwith nothing junctioned? Also, how the heck am I gonna summon a GF without one junctioned or is there supposed to be an battle specific option?
 
Naah do it with one juctioned I wasnt thinking lol

Edit: Oh and your sure that you have NEVER used a GF in your save.
 
I'll check it tomorrow once I'm all rested up -- not really in the mood to pull out the PS2. I wish the PS3 had the old memory card ports... ~sigh~

that makes no sense since rinoa gives the ring back to squall later on in the game

also i have completed the game without using or junctioning gf and i never got griever
 
If you never Juctioned one then how did you know you didn't have it..
It only appears in the battle.. from what i've heard.. I'll talk to the guy about it tomorrow
