Chocobos are huge in Final Fantasy XIII; they roam the world of Pulse with a purpose of providing high speed movement through the game’s underworld. They have the ability to jump high, reaching locations otherwise inaccessible; and the ability to find treasures, an exclamation point appearing above their heads whenever they sense something, notifying you to dig for treasure.
Chocobos have a health gauge represented by a set of feathers on the lower left of the screens. Whenever an enemy strikes, your Chocobo will lose a feather. Lose them all, the Chocobo flees.
Onto Alexander, Hope’s summon in-battle. Alexander can punch enemies from a distance in standard mode; his Driving Mode is a fortress which blast enemies afar with multiple cannons. When in Driving Mode, Alexander is described to look like a castle wall.
Finally, there’s an area in the game named Sanles. It’s said to be a natural area of Cocoon filled with beautiful flowers, but the residents of Cocoon are not allowed entry due to it being a natural preservation area. There’s some sort of weather control terminal there as well, which just may be in control by the fal’Cie.
Those of you who read the FFXIII novelisation should be familiar a little about Sanles. As for the chocobos, this is an interesting new twist to how they work. Even chocobos are vulnerable to enemies now. There is a scan, but it's already been posted a few threads ago.
