Anyone else seen this yet?

Well let's start with what I liked about the film - it looks amazing (and that's just Frieda Pinto!), and has a very good soundtrack. They do a very good job of capturing a lot of the facets of Mumbai. And Dev Patel is very winning and sympathetic in the lead role. The first half of the film is the strongest part, managing to blend comedic and serious moments (which is very hard to do well) to good effect. But the second half isn't quite as satisfying, and the ending though it has a great moment of high tension
when he gets the question for the jackpot and you're left wondering whether he'll get it
maybe wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Plus the relationship between Jamal and his brother felt a little City of God-lite at times. But I don't want to let these grievances obscure the fact it's a very good and uplifting film, always compelling and well worth seeing. The end-credits are great too.

I'm loath to give out marks to films usually, but this was about a B+ for me I think.

In the end I think this is the sort of film which will either you have you grinning like an idiot at the end or rolling your eyes. It all depends how much you buy into its concept of 'destiny' maybe.

Definitely a great movie. I just saw it a few days ago and it is one of those movies that had me smiling and muttering, "That's really sad" all through out the movie. Wonderful storyline and I like how they showed flashbacks of Jamal's childhood and catch a glimpse of life in poverty (although I would know, I'm very familiar with that while growing up too).

The music score is absolutely fantastic and it really matches the mood of the environment and its characters. Bright vibrant colors and the lifestyle really kept me watching. I didn't dig the ending too much though...it seemed a little rushed, but then again, that was quite a long movie. Dev Patel did a great job here I really grew to like his character in the film.

How is there only one other reply? This was such a great movie!

The music was awesome. I know that "Jai-Oh", one of the songs in the movie, won an award. I'm sure the movie also won some other well deserved awards as well... It was such a heartfelt story and anyone even THINKING about watching this movie needs to STOP thinking and just watch it. You can hold ME accountable for not enjoying it if you take my advice...

as much as i love danny boyle's films, and as much as everyone else in the world seems to love slumdog, there's just something about it that i can't watch. for some reason i just have absolutely no interest in watching it. maybe i will one day when it's on telly, but i can't see myself spending money on it
