Ok...so we all know that almost all the games in the final fantasy series has a Cid and possibly a Biggs and Wedge....but another thing I've noticed is that....In almost all the games the main party ends up getting thrown into jail and they almost always seem to be rebelling against the high power (gov't, etc.) (By the way correct me if I'm wrong on that...)

But is there a reason for it? Do the producers/story writers have a reason?

Just one of those interesting facts....

I think it's more of the group falling into a trap or being in the wrong place at the wrong tie in a few situations.

I think of FFIX where Zidane and Co. are kept by Kuja in the Desert palace in separate rooms/cages until one of the groups of characters comes back with with Kuja wants them to retrieve.

For FFVII, doesn't the group stumble into the Corel Prison accidently?

Yea, even in FF1 you get stuck in a prioson in elfland or something. but yes, ffvii (desrert corel prison), ffviii (desert towr prison), ffix (kua desert palace), ffx (jecht in desert & via del infigigo), ffxii (basch in desert prison)... what the fuck is with desert prisons?!

I've noticed this too.

Also, one of the main characters is usually involved with that group somehow. With IV, it's Cecil and the Red Wings, with VI it's Terra because she was controlled for a little while by the Empire, with VII it's Cloud and Shinra, with IX it's Garnet and her mother, in X it's Yuna
with getting married to Seymour, if that counts
, and with XII it's Basch
with Gabranth
and Balthier with
Dr. Cid
.

I don't know about VIII, but I'm sure there's one in there, too. :wacky:

But yes, the main party usually gets thrown in prison or something for rebelling against an army/corporation/whatever.

I suppose it's just to add a twist to the story. How boring would FF be if there were no twists and the story was so obvious?

With the prison thing, since FF never really kill off main goodies (except Aerith), it's a way of making bad stuff happen to the characters without actually overdoing it. Again with the twists as well.
