It's not a debate thread as such...but more a place to discuss the two couples, which man was good for Serah - of not both at different points in her life!
You may discuss which couple do you prefer and why! =) but give some reasons, ponder over how the relationship worked, what you liked.
Do you think Noel would have been able to encourage Serah in FFXIII?
Although Snow can be a bit of a jock, I believe that he is exactly what Serah needs in Final Fantasy XIII. He treats her like a fragile girl, but she still is fairly fragile. Snow's outgoing personality, his positive outlook on life and his enthusiasm bring Serah out of her shell. More importantly, however, Snow manages to make Serah feel calm, happy and safe when she's in distress, which is something I'm not sure Noel would have done as effectively.
However, I don't want to underestimate Serah.
It's quite possible that she would have been more independent had Noel been in FFXIII in place of Snow. Noel doesn't patronise Serah. He looks after her as much as he needs to, but he does what he can to help her stand on her own two feet, which is something Snow doesn't do enough of. Snow lets Serah rely on him too much. 
Having pondered over it, I feel that Snow is meant for the Serah in XIII. The dynamics between them are adorable, even if Serah does end up being a little too Mary Sue-like. Essentially, I would not want to replace Snow with Noel!
However, the Serah in Final Fantasy XIII-2 is more well matched to Noel. I feel XIII-2 Serah is more mature and independent. She's totally selfless, courageous and strong. Whilst I'm sure Snow would appreciate that, I just don't see the dynamics working as well. Noel and Serah develop a bond as Serah matures; Snow, however, becomes more distant. Noel and Serah see eye to eye in XIII-2.
When Snow and Serah meet in XIII-2, Snow seems to appreciate and admire Serah's new found maturity, but I think he's slightly upset about it too. Serah has transformed into someone new. He, on the other hand, is still chasing monsters, just as he did with NORA. It's a little bit sad, but I think it works. People change and relationships change too. We can still cherish what we had with someone, treaure them, thank them for their role in shaping who we are, but at the same time, we move forwards.
