I'm not sure whether or not to sell my Playstation 3. I purchased my PS3 at the midnight Meta Gear Solid 4 release. It was one of the last few 80gigs with Playstation 2 backwards compatibility to be released. Being one of the only few to own an 80gig with PS2 backwards compabtibility, I was told it could be sold for 600 or more. Is this true?

In addition, I don't really play my Playstation 3 that much. The only game that was played on it was MGS 4. Most of my games are on the Xbox 360, and most of my friends own an Xbox. Also, my PS2 works fine.

The only advantage of having a PS3 is playing blu-ray movies, and saving save files on the PS3 instead of using memory cards. The only two PS3 exclusives that I care for at the moment is God of War III and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Not even FFvXIII with my lack of interest in JRPGs and Square Enix.

Well, it's sitting there collecting dust. What do you think? Sell it, or keep it?

If its just sitting collecting dust, you should sell it. Youv got a 360 anyway so its not like youd be left without a console. Ive been asking myself the same question for a while now, cept i dont have a 360. If ffXIII wasnt being released id definately pawn it.

I'll agree with Lew that if it's collecting dust then you might as well sell it. The PS3 has just as many decent exclusives as the 360 imho but I think that depends on what type of game you like playing...and since most of your friends are on Live then it's probably a good idea to see your PS3 :monster:

Just make sure there aint any PS3 exclusive games you really really want
I sold my DS and i regret it now looking at the upcoming games that will be released on it

Well Ps3 is awesome but Xbox 360 is much better for online play. Anyways Scarly do what ever you think feels right. Also Final Fantasy XIII is coming for both 360 and ps3 so make up your mind. Yes Metal Gear 4 guns of the patriots was a very good game. But I dont use my ps3 much but I would not sell it.

How so?

PS3 is FREE ONLINE. Microsoft 360 you have to pay for and its not a better service AT ALL.

I had a 360 and it is a p1$$ poor console. I can go into alot of detail if you guys like but i'll sum it up by saying; if you aren't enjoying the PS3, you aren't using the vast amount of features it offers, and you probably haven't bothered to play some of the best titles it has to offer.

To me, the PS3 has a couple more advantages. Free online, and it's more reliable. Plus, it seems that alot of games that start off as 360 exclusives end up making their way to the PS3 and picking up extra content along the way, like Bioshock and Tales of Vesperia. Now as for worthwhile PS3 exclusives, there are:

  • Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Ratchet and Clank Future: Quest for Booty (very short DLC, only a few hours, hopefully cheaper now)
  • Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time (not out yet)
  • Disgaea 3
  • Folklore
  • Fat Princess (I was skeptical at first, but from watching some previews of it on Gametrailers and hearing people give their impressions of it, it sounds really good)
  • Uncharted 1 and 2
  • Sly Cooper 4 (not out yet)
  • God of War 3 (obviously)
  • inFamous (skeptical at first, but reviews and people on /v/ say its really good)
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2 (I guess you can count these? They have extra shit added to them, and hopefully Sigma 2 will fix all the bugs from the 360 version)
  • Katamari Forever
  • Valkyria Chronicles
  • Demon's Souls (not out yet)
  • Cross Edge
Uh....that's all I can think of for now. Didn't include the racing games and shooters, but you got some fairly good ones in those genres too. But yeah, not too shabby of an exclusive list.

If you aren't using it, then by all means, go ahead and sell it. With pretty much everything worth playing, going multi-platform anyway, I never saw the point in owning both consoles in the first place.

The thing is, the PS2 is an older system and it will have to go in time. The one major thing that holds the PS3 from becoming the superior system is that they still make games for PS2. When they stop making games for PS2, then it will force gamers to upgrade to a 360 or PS3. I really and fully believe that the PS3 is the way of the future. I too own a backwards compatible 80GB PS3 and I'm confident that there will be some awesome games to come out for it. FFXIII is the one I really look forward. Even with some of the older games like Heavenly Sword, they are a whole lot of fun. Anyways, I'm going off on a tangent, but I think you should keep your PS3 because it will do more than collect dust in the future.
