XBox Scratched Disc

My brother recently got an Xbox 360, and I decided to purchase FFXIII to go along with it.

Due to my brother kicking the Xbox over, the laser scratched the disc and now there's a mahoosive scratch ring all around the inside. I've taken it to be cleaned by a professional and reduced the scratch size significantly, but it's not a whole lot better gameplay wise.

Will taking it to be cleaned again make a difference, or should I give up and rebuy the game? It's only disc 1 and I really don't wanna shell out another 30 pound.

Would you be able to install the game onto the HDD and run it off that?

I'm no expert on technology. Can you tell me what the HDD is?

Installing a game to the hard drive only makes a game run faster, like decrease load times... it doesn't make it so you can play it off the hard drive unfortunately... I think you are kinda screwed Diar dear. Your disc is ruined... there isn't much you can do once that happens... It's one of the Xbox's biggest faults IMO that there isn't anything actually HOLDING the disc in place like the PS2 had the spindle thingie.

Ah well, it's only FFXIII you're not missing much if it's done for. Spend £30 on a different game instead

No, it wouldn't Diar. I don't know exactly how to explain it like Chris explained to me, but it absolutely has ruined the disc. there is no way to fix it. You'll have to rebuy it unfortunately.
