in Disc 2 i believe the first boss is a twin-headed fire/ice dragon. i've tried doing everything i can to defeat him, but the most i got was one head (i think the fire-using one). i've tried using my strongest members (Cloud, Cid, and Cait Sith), and then swapped Cid for Barret because i thought that his second Lv 1 limit break, Mind Blow, would sap up their magic but i still couldn't do it. any advice?

Schizo is extremely easy if you have the right set up.

Fire Armlets will absorb the fire damage (or nullify it-can't remember which). Also if you did the Wutai sidequest, you should have received an ice ring. If you have that equip it. Fire Armlet + Ice Ring essentially makes one character invincible. The dragon armlet halves damage from fire, ice and thunder. I think you can steal it from the blue dragon. Then you can equip elemental + fire and elemental + ice on the armor and completely nullify damage from each head.

If you don't have any of these armors, regen + big guard works well to protect your characters and keep their hp at a decent level.

Yes the fire amulet with ice ring helps a lot. Another thing is, drop the ifrit, Shiva, and any summon based with fire and Ice. It helps to not use all materia on fire and ice also. This will help you to not heal a head while fighting. Then equip Ice on one character and fire on another. Spam this spells on the right heads to damage them. Have your other character spam remaining summons, cure and cast big guard. Hope this helps.

yeah run lol jokes. na what you want to do is get everyone's levels up to at least level 45 and give it a crack from there, you want to try and find yourself 3 fire rings, only use bolt 3 on him an any non-elemental magic you have. If you lob it all at him you can get the job done with your eye's shut. good luck

thanks and i have a few of those things but not all. and i'd also like to know if Mind Blow is useful.

I don't think mind blow will work. I just want to add that beside the save point there is a white spring where you can heal HP and MP. You can level up and then try to fight him afterwards.

Thanks, and I found the spring by accident when I got there. Who would you recommend in my party then? I forget what level they are all at right now so I'll post that when I get on next time.

Use Ifrit and Shiva, concentrating only on one head at a time. Otherwise, they'll just alternately recover. If you have comet, use it. For some reason, non-elemental stuff seems to shitcan them just as well. Be sure to have limit breaks up, and don't use Vincent if he's still in the first limit phase.
Either way, it's an endurance match if you don't have a workshop of fire/ice armor and acc. Just kill him as fast as possible.

i beat it!!! yesterday while i was on i switched to Vincent (to help his Limit level up beyond a 50/50 chance of fire attacks) and Cid (he has the only weapon with better than a normal materia growth). i ran in circles in the chamber just before and spent about an hour leveling up. today i go on, switch to Cait Sith and Red XIII and go fight him. i did it with only one casualty the entire fight. right now i'm in the crater, and, yes, i did get the Neo Bahamut materia. i'm having trouble timing he second wind-thing that has green stripes. i did the first one okay, but i don't understand how to do this one. side note: what's being thrown down the hall right before the Schizo battle?

To get through those (3) whirlwinds you have to go when everything is calm. This means no wind and no lightning bolt. You can time the wind right and still get hit with the bolt. Might I add that the monsters you fight (the flying ones) can be morphed into a source of some kind (I forget its either magic or guard).

The thing that fell before Schizo was a Sephiroth Clone which will be fully explained real soon. You may remember a few from the temple of ancients.
