well i was watching tv a little while ago and i saw the preview for "hauntings in conneticut". if i'm not mistaken, movie previews are supposed to be approved for the general audience or PG right? well first off i can't stand scary movies, but i thought that the preview for the movie was really scary. i don't really know what i'm trying to say, but i guess it's like "are scary movie previews" too scary?

I think scary movie previews try to be scary, to set the tone of the movie, but for the most part, in my opinion, they just sorta suck, and I'm left feeling unimpressed =/ So I wouldn't really call them "too scary"

Trailers for scary movies rarely impress me. IMO the main things which make horror movies scary are suspense and when the scariness is unexpected.

However in the trailers, suspense is usually tossed out the window and nothing is unexpected because horror trailers often try to cram as much 'scary' shit in them as possible so people will go "OMG DAT MOVIE ISH SO SCARRY< I SHOULD C IT!!!". So no, I don't really find the trailers very scary, mainly because I expect them to be scary.

lol first off i don't c how scary movies fall under midgar which says "any form of entertainment". scary movies aren't entertaining =). and i guess i'm not "manly" enough cuz even though i do expect something to scare me i still get scared. but what i think i'm trying to get at is more like "are scary movie previews inappropriate for wimps like me and for younger kids"

i find anything scary. and i hate scary things. never gone to cinema to see a horror movie......and anytime i do watch some scary movie home, i have really bad nightmares (im the kind of person that sees dreams too often...).
tried left4dead like 2 days ago......great game but ....will take me too long to get over the scary stuff and play like a pro ^^
sry for going a bit offtopic....always happens in the morning

To be quite honest, I can't see how the previews are scary what so ever. I haven't been able to find 'scary movies' to be scary since the 90s. Now days the directors try to focus more on gore and shock value rather then psychological horror. That is what used to scare me before. When they didn't have CGI and all that crap so the movie itself actually had to be...good.

They no longer pick an every day situation that you would run into and think of the movie then be freaked out by.

...ANYWAY, back to the topic. I don't find them to be scary what so ever. I watch T.V all the time with my seven year old nephew and we've recently saw the preview for the movie mentioned in the OP and he was the first to say it looked stupid.

Well the trailers are definitely inappropriate for children. But they generally are only shown late at night during more mature T.V shows or as trailers before a movie which is intended for mature audiences. Plus the trailers themselves generally don't show any gore.

As for people who are older but are still scared by the trailers, there is nothing stopping them from closing their eyes, muting the T.V or changing the channel.
