The scene where Saphire WEAPON attacks Junon is possibly my favorite scene in FFVII. Especially now that Cloud throwing Seph into the Mako has been retconned. I really think those two scenes were done to their fullest in the music, dialogue and general atmosphere created by all involved. The music for WEAPON is terrific, the silence before the alert goes off to signal it's still coming and everything just worked wonderfully to make that part my absolute favorite.

And I don't even like FF7 that much. lol But what do you think?

No he's right, it is Sapphire WEAPON. It was never mentioned in the game but was later revealed by Square in the Ultimania and other things I think. It can't be Omega tho, whever did you get that idea from? Seeing as Omega is in DoC it would be pretty hard ;)
 
Omega WEAPON was the one from Dirge of Cerberus. Ultimate WEAPON attacked Mideal. It had the big wings and flew around. Sapphire (just learned it has 2 p's) was the one in the water that got its head blown off by the Mako Cannon (not to be confused with the Diamond Weapon which was killed by the Sister Ray)

I didn't know that one was called Sapphire Weapon. I thought that was just plain old Weapon. Thanks for clearing that up! X3 I'm glad I found that out, seeing as I'm now in that section in my novelisation of the game.

So, to anyone else who's confused, here is the Weapon list:

SAPPHIRE WEAPON
This Weapon attacked Junon.

Ultimate Weapon
This is the dragon-like Weapon that attacked Mideel, and you get Ultimate Weapon from.

Ruby Weapon
Found in the desert around Gold Saucer

Emerald Weapon
Found under the sea swimming around Junon

Diamond Weapon
This is the one you fight just outside Midgar, and is shot at by the Sister Ray.

Omega Weapon
Not found in the first game. This Weapon appears in Dirge of Cerberus and is the most powerful Weapon of all.

Jade Weapon
Fought in Before Crisis. Thanks, Moonchild!

So that should clear it up!

Also don't forget the Jade WEAPON, fought in Before Crisis.

That annoys me actually. In FF VII at the Nothern Crater on Disc 2, Hojo is suprised to find out that WEAPON actually exsisted, and thus unaware. Yet if the Turks fought Jade WEAPON in BC, then obviously Shinra and ofcourse Hojo should know of WEAPON's exisistance indefinitebly. :s

Yes, it does seem a bit odd. Maybe Hojo didn't fully realise it was Weapon, or thought it was manufactured in a different way. I've added Jade Weapon to the list. I haven't played Before Crisis so I didn't know about that one. X3
 
I would guess that since the weapon don't look much different from other monsters he would naturally assume Jade weapon to be another monster.
 
Picture of the Jade WEAPON. Unfortunatly I can't find an English translation of the game scrip beyonf Episode 18, Jade WEAPON appears in a special mission after the main game which ends at Episode 25.

I can see why it would be mistaken for a normal monster. It certainly doesn't look like any of the Weapons we are normally familiar with.
 
Im pretty sure it was called Emerald weapon but maybe they changed its name or something not sure.

I used to think that too, because changes in appreance arn't exactly uncommon in FF. As time went on tho we all decided it was a totaly diffrent WEAPON all together and people have always refered it as Sapphire WEAPON even before it was confermed that it was.
 
Saphire WEAPON's attack on Junon is probably one of the best looking FMV's in the game. It's whole appearance from beyond up until thie point it get point-blank unloaded on in teh face, is just an amazing sequence. Truly an epic moment in the game.
 
Yeh i count that as my favorite fmv as well cause it just looked real kool and they must of spent some time on it.
 
I hate to burst anyone's bubble here, but I really thought that the Sapphire Weapon was retarded, and anti-climactic. I mean, when she's gonna fire that beam out of her mouth you really expect it to do a lot of damage, all it does is make a tiny little hole on the side of the building Tifa was imprisoned in.

VERY LAME!!!!!
