I figured this would be the best place to put this... Anywho, I'm going to be making an information spot for the RPG. In here I shall keep listings of where to find certain spells, items, components, pets, and attack types. I'll also list monster types, where to find them, scans of them, and tips I have picked up from others.

Those of you who read this, I have found a theme which I think suits this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4kL692D0fE&feature=related

Alright, so first shall be the attack types:

Beat Rush: An attack type specifically for the gloves, you can earn it by killing the Tonberry in the Tavern Basement. Tifa gives it you as a reward.
Hit & Run: An attack type for claws and daggers, you can buy this for 3000 gil at the Dipan Armoury.

Now the spells!

Fireball: Spell you can buy for 250 gil at Solde Shop.
Fire: Spell you can buy for 1000 gil at Solde Shop.
Ice: Spell you can buy for 1000 gil at Solde Shop.
Thunder: Spell you can buy for 1000 gil at Solde Shop.
Dark: Spell you can buy for 1000 gil at Solde Shop.
Berserk: Spell you buy for 3000 gil at Dipan Armoury.

Onwards to items!

Worn Knife: Dagger you can buy for 150 gil at Solde Shop.
Simple Sword: Sword you can buy for 300 gil at Solde Shop.
Antivenom Steel: Sword you can buy for 600 gil at Solde Shop.
Steel Sword: Sword you can buy for 1200 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Lance: Spear you can buy for 1250 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Elvish Replica Blade: Dagger you can buy for 700 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Dwarven Waraxe: Axe you can buy for 1200 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Iron Shield: Shield you can buy for 1175 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Iron Helm: Helm you can buy for 1100 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Iron Boots: Boots you can buy for 1000 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Iron Armour: Small Armour you can buy for 1150 gil at Dipan Armoury.
Leather Glove: You receive a pair from Tifa after the death of Tonberry.

If you see someone sporting equipment other then this, then they probably made it themselves and you need to go bugger them for it.

Components!

Bronze: Dropped from: Monsters in forest area
Iron: Dropped from: monsters in tunnel area
Steel: Dropped from: monsters in Dipan Castle
Mithril: Dropped from: Fire Dragon

Shadow's strategy

A. Make sure you have Berserk, Hit & Run, and a pair of daggers/claws, your preference. Also stock up on whisky and equip yourself fully. Alright, so you invest 36 modifier points into your hp, bringing it up into the thousands. You also have 20 in STR, 28 in DEF, and 17 in SPD. (little bit variable depending on lvl, but keep it something in that ratio.) You go fight the little bastard, and this is how it works.

Your gonna have two turns, the start, and then one after Tonberry hits you, before going to the next round. First turn, hit the fucker with a normal attack, both weapons, bring your ADR to 2. After that, he'll hit you with something, but ignore it. If you have as much health as you should, it won't matter. Cast Berserk, and then keep spam hitting him with Hit & Run from both weapons until Berserk runs out. Use your next two turns to chug down two bottles of whisky and heal. Rinse and repeat.

Cardiac's strategy:

Using the sword/shield combo and a pet, I stocked up on whiskey before-hand and reallocated my points. I put 6 on speed, then dispersed the rest between HP and STR (I don't remember exact numbers because I wasn't raelly paying attention). The pet got offed with his first turn, so I was able to get a free shot in there. I would attack until my health got to below 300, then use a whiskey to get it back up. I also had a somewhat high DEF so some hits were "not counting" per se.

Tonberry-Espada Method:

Unlike many of the Methods already shown, I've started out at a disadvantage, (Tonberry's 200 DEX vs. my 125 EVA). However, how I fought at it. I used the Beserk Spell on occasion. All I needed to do was keep hitting him since my strength (at the time 150) was superior to his defense.

Simply put, keep hitting him, and use Whiskey everytime you fall below 300 HP. Make sure you start off with at least 600 HP (I fought the battle starting with 750 HP). Don't be afraid to use Whiskeys and keep at it till he goes down.

Now, since I'm doing this out of the kindness of my heart and using my own time to do this, please do me a favor and do NOT post in here unless I have put down inaccurate information that needs to be fixed.

Tips for the bestiary you can just let me know via PM or just telling me in the SB.

Fire will effect the STR stat, Ice effects DEF, Thundara effects EVA (I'm pretty sure, but not 100% on this...) and Dark effects DEX, because it blinds with it's darkness, it makes sense. xP

And nice thread idea btw. :monster:

At least it is handy for those who already faced those monsters. :P

And currently available components are Bronze, Iron, Steel, and Mithril, respectively listed from least to most effective.

Now, after carefully looking at both Tonberry and Ifrit, here's my advice:

If you prefer a Warrior-Like pet who relies on heavy STR points and DEX, go for Tonberry since his attack type increase more STR than Ifrit's. However, bear in mind that Tonberry's initial SPD is lower than Ifrit's.

If you prefer a more, Mage-like Pet, go for Ifrit. His Mag is higher than Tonberry's initial Mag, as well as being twice as faster than the Tonberry.
