Okay, so I'm crazy and can't ever decide on one header to use for my livejournal, and I have like 5 I'd like to rotate between. I see people using rotating headers all the time on livejournal. But I don't know how. I was wonder if anyone would help me figure out how to do this.

I thought I'd jus' have to make a gif change every page fresh, but I see that's not working.

Any help would be ♥, thanks. :3

15 points to whomever helps me :C

Thanks, bb. I read that and it really confused me >.< I know it's my fault but I just don't get all of it. :/

Alright it's basic PHP really. All you need to do is download the zip in which is listed in the instructions.

Also go ahead and upload the images to a sharefile location on a webhost. The webhost must support php. You might need to get one of those free sites in which you can store stuff (can not use photobucket since it only hosts images).

Open the file within the zip (rotate.php) in Ultraedit or if you have any other code editing software. You can open it in notepad but the code will of course be a bit sloppy and unindented. Either way, with whatever open use the Search feature and search for $folder.

You will see a lot of instructions pointing, but keep on searching until you get to the following:

$folder = '.';

Replace the '.' with the location of the images, unless the images will be in the same location as the php file you are editing then just leave it as.. $folder = '.';

i.e. $folder = 'http://fffshu.site40.net/images/'

Then upload this file to the webhost (same directory as images preferably as said before).

Then you will need to know how to link an image:

< img src = http://fffshu.site40.net/images/tylerrotate.php >

without the space after the < and before the > it looks like this: (pictures below from my cache of siggies)

tylerrotate.php

Wow, thanks so much Tyler. :jess: That was way understandable compared to the others. I'm gonna try this, see if it works for me. :ryan:

Oh, by the way, this was for Livejournal and it uses HTML will that be a problem? :/

If it doesn't, I can walk you through it. Just remember if you are keeping the images in the same location as the php file. You don't even need to edit the file, unless of course they are not images.

If they are not images I can show you how to do them as well. Mostly the person who did the pseudo code to all of this was pretty good actually. I'm no expert at PHP since I did not have the privilege to take it in school, but like any other code it's easy to pick up for me.

Let me know! Hopefully it works out for you.

Sweetness. Also, I need a hosting site to host the PHP file do you have any ideas?

EDIT for response for Cali:

Nah you should be fine.

You can just google one. The one I just used seemed to work fine: http://www.000webhost.com/

I just wanted to test it, since I am not hosting it from this laptop.

Okay, cool. If I have any problems I'll just ask. Thanks for the help, I was afraid no one would help me. :ryan:

That's what members and staff are here for I hope =). Anytime, either way I'll leave this thread unlocked, in case anyone else wants to do it.

If anyone was wondering, that is what Jim/Hal do for their siggies as well. (sorry buds) :lew:

I was wondering how they did that! :mokken: Thanks for leaving it open, I'll probably have more questions.
