anyways im down to buying one of this 2 games sinc i found them on ebay for 20 bucks including shipping brand new.

but i cant decide but maybe u guys can help
which game should i get and why?

You have to play Rogue Galaxy, but it all depends which style do you, oike better. Rogue Galaxy has action battle system. Dragon Quest VIII has standard RPG battle system but I don't like battle system in Dragon Quest VIII. Rogue Galaxy has better story and better characters.

I've never played Dragon Quest VIII but I can tell you that Rogue Galaxy is on gaming level all it's own.

The gameplay is what got me really into it. It's kind of turn-based but at the same time it's nothing like turn-based. The gameplay actually reminded me somewhat of Kingdom Hearts. There's so many hours of gameplay in this game it's amazing! lol The storyline is really good as well, very unique. Jaster is definitely a memorable character.

It depends if you like a traditional turn based battle system or one with more action and pace. Personally I'd go for Rogue Galaxy. Same developer, but Rogue Galaxy actually looks prettier because its locations seem more detailed. I enjoyed the battle system- it actually made the random battles fun to get through. It may not have the world scope of DQVIII, but its locations are more interesting. For example, the whole of Zerard is a city. A huge city. You won't get something like that in DQVIII. Also, the characters are more interesting. Jasper speaks and has a personality unlike DQVIII's muted hero.

Get Rogue Galaxy...please. I implore you...DragonQuest VIII is such a horrible game. It has been the only game I have ever traded in because I keep all of my good games. I believe you'll enjoy Rogue Galaxy a lot more, though I may be biased for it is one of my favorites~

I like both of them to be honest. Im happy people like Rogue Galaxy, some people really hate it saying it was terrible battle system and characters. I loved the characters.

What the hell is up with the Dragon Quest hating? Its more popular in Japan than Final Fantasy. They're probably just as confused with us as I am.

I definitely admit that Dragon Quest VIII is a different game. The story is more laid back and traditional. If you had to compare, I'd compare it with FFIX. The two games are nothing alike, but FFIX went back to the Final Fantasy roots with being in a more medieval times background. The gameplay is turn based, but the bosses can be quite challenging and its a very long game. There's also lots of customizing you can do with weapons and armor which some people find to be pretty fun. The battle system with Dragon Quest has stayed the same, so either nobody has played it or people are overly biased. It's like hating a Final Fantasy game because it uses the ATB system.

Dragon Quest is pretty freeform, running across the countryside, the graphics look really great. Kind of like a toned down Oblivion since its on the PS2. Rogue Galaxy has slightly better graphics, but its not much of a surprise. Both games are like hidden gems, they didn't get much attention, but they both deserve a lot more. Rogue Galaxy is a great RPG, but in general I think fans overrate it a bit much. It's full of plenty of cliche's and stereotypes, along with the typical characters you find in a JRPG. The soft spoken heroine, mysterious, dark character who turns on you but really didn't, the wide eyed young hero with a sword......the talking cat. Okay Monsha is pretty badass. Rogue Galaxy seemed like the typical JRPG with a sci fi twist. A solid game, but there are a lot better out there.

I agree with Stella though, depends on which you like better. I enjoy both styles equally, they're both good games. Neither perfect, but I might like Dragon Quest better for just being different and a more light-hearted adventure. Though Rogue Galaxy has its light parts too. I think I'm just going in circles now. >_<

Get Dragon Quest, great characters and a very well paced story. Graphics are clean and game play is practical but very fun.

Rogue Galaxy is a bit more "mature". By that I mean that there is more brain power being used when you play. Always have to pay attention and the game can be a bit difficult I found when I played.

With Dragon Quest you get a very traditional game, RG offers a very contemporary view of RPG's. I think you will enjoy the characters in DG better but the game play in RG is more intense and much quicker.

If you want a game to just lay on your bed or couch, eat pizza and just have plain fun, get Dragon Quest. If you want to be at the edge of your seat and have to pause toe at pizza, get Rogue Galaxy.

Because I like to be laid back, I love Dragon Quest VIII. Rogue Galaxy is a great game but only for an hour or two a day.

I think they've probably made their purchase, but I'd go for Rogue Galaxy. The Dragon Quest game for the PS2 has never even caught my attention.

I played my friend's copy for like half an hour and was already fed up with it. Pissed me off more than my DQIII game I used to play when the GBC was what the cool kids had.

I tried to play DQVIII but it was boring as hell and you can't even move the camera the way you want in some places.

Rouge Galaxy is like the awesome FFXII, the gameplay was awesome, the characters are great and the storyline is great. I loved the battle system and everything about the game.

There both good games, Rouge galaxy has you fighting enemies every few seconds and it can get really repetitive and Dragon Quest has silly monsters.
But I'm leaning more to dragon quest, because rouge galaxy can get really ,really repetitive and the 100 level dungeon is a major pain.
