Reorganization of the RP section

Well as of now, I am not approving anyone for advanced placement RPs until I've seen them in action in intermediate RPs. I've seperated a few different profiles based on their descriptions and their writing methods, but I want to see their writing skills in real RPs as well before I nudge them up to advanced placement.

It may be a good idea after all...but first things first, we have to organize the RP section.
We could possibly use this idea of yours as an "advanced placement tryouts" or something...

No, I don't mean a post to get into an RP. I mean like an average post from an RP that you only would post. From there, everyone could calculate whether you are a beginner or advanced.

No I'm saying the exact same thing you are.
Not for a specific RP, just for approval into a specific section.

I was answering Supernova's question, but ok.

And of course, I'm willing to get into action right away. How will we actually place everyone in beginner, intermediate and advanced anyway? By doing what I did? Or do you have something else in mind?

Right now I'm just reading over people's profiles and giving them my written approval.
The sections aren't up right now of course, but it will make more sense to the members once it's reorganized.

I understand what you mean. By the way, how long do you estimate it will go ahead? I suppose we might have to sit tight for Darkblade at this rate.

so you won't know how detailed members post until the rp's are actually up?

While I think the division is good for the more advanced RPers who dislike having their RPs cluttered with "non-effort" posts, a problem I see arising is that firstly, there might not even be enough RPers of a certain "level" to make a proper RP, and secondly - if it were me, trying out RPing for the first or second time I would be more than a little put off by the whole "Yeah - you can't RP with me cause you're not good enough. Go RP with the other kiddies." sort of attitude.

To me while the "separation by standard" forums are a good thing, not too much emphasis should be put on who can RP with who, as this could not only deter starting RPers, but also make current RPers who possibly feel that they aren't in the right "standard" leave the RPing community.

Anyway - that's just my opinion, but I don't really have any experience running a Forum or anything like that, so take it as you will.

I understand what you mean, Eidolon. It takes time for newbies to become adapted with RPing. Another suggestion I have is why not have a help thread? Or even a thread with tips for newbies?

Also, I want to delete the RPs that I made, both Curse of the Zaan Castle AND A Shattered World if you don't mind, Rhea. I did feel that many were lacking the effort to make a decent post ...

And I don't mean you in any way, Eidolon.

Eidolon's point is totally valid, but it's not a matter of who's good enough.
Members are being approved based on the effort that is placed into their character profiles. While some members may only want to create a profile with their character's name and appearance, other's have walked the whole nine yards in order to accomedate perfection.

I actually think it would be a good idea to hide the sections and only allow approved members into certain usergroups.
For example, if a member is approved for original intermediate roleplay, then he/she would also be allowed to join unoriginal intermediate and beginners RPs.

My main concern is that I don't want unoriginal profiles being mixed into the picture with serious RPers who are puting out a big effort to participate in original Roleplays.

you could also make it so that you have to enter a certain amount of letters in your posts in order to actually post them

That's a good idea as well....it may help out with this little issue we're having about members posting one or two sentences at a time...

That's my point exactly! It means that people will be posting more and contributing to the story rather just one liners. Speaking of that, I, for one, HATE one liners. How much longer until it's put into action, Rhea?

Well it all depends on when DB and I are online at the same time.
Luckily enough we were able to sit down together yesterday, but you weren't online. =[
I want to begin rearranging everything as soon as possible.
Everything that was formerly in the RP section has been placed into a temorary section of the forums until I have a chance to sort through and place each thread accordingly.

So we still got to wait a while before the RP section is up and running again, are all our RP's still there, or do we have to start all over, and on that note, sometimes i think that people can't think of anything so they post one liners, its a problem, but it seems that they can't help it... but i guess that is what the beginner and system is for, i don't know about the 4+ paragraph thing, because sometimes people can write alot, and other times they can't, so if you make it default that you have to type 4+ paragraphs that might be a bit hard, but the intermdiate i think anyone can be in, so lower the advance from 4+ to 3+, then the intermidiate is 1-3 paragraphs, but you can always go over that... can't you?

Your roleplays have not been tampered with, only relocated. Therefore, no damage of any sort has been done to them. You will get them back, when the revamp has been completed.

and on that note, sometimes i think that people can't think of anything so they post one liners, its a problem, but it seems that they can't help it...

*Ahem* Yes, they can. It just takes practice, learning, and above all, staying in character.

Trust me, you're overestimating.

Indeed, you may write more than what the level minimum requires. Though you make valid suggestions, I find them to be a little too lenient and less likely to encourage people to improve.

Looks like the whole section has been locked and there's no sign of Darkblade. This may take longer than I thought. And hey, Rhea! Some of us do have a life, you know? :P

There's nothing I can do. =x
Darkblade says he doesn't want anyone else doing this...
And I don't have admin powers. =x

Yeah, it's too bad that we can't go ahead with this. I guess for now, I may entertain myself with writing. I know that you're all itching to get back into RPing, but as I've already clearly stated myself, the other mods and admins do have lives themselves. So be patient, ya?
