I'm about to graduate college so I felt I should get away from the desktop computer my family owns and get myself a laptop for personal use. My question is, do any of you know of one's that's exceptionally good? Or even a maker that's really good. I'm looking to spend under $1000, so I don't need a "top-of-the-line" laptop, but I'd like a newer version of one that is pretty sweet, has a good deal of memory, and can burn DVD's and CD's.

Any help? Eh? Greatly appreciated.

Toshiba.

HP's are nice and flashy and one of the favorites for college-aged people, but they're not the best computers.

Toshiba's aren't the most beautiful of laptops, but they perform much better than HPs, and are much more dependable.

Stay the hell away from Dell, and stay the hell away from Acer. Sony will be too expensive for you.

I recommend Toshiba, and, go with HP if you really don't like the Toshibas.
