Playstation Ratchet & Clank HD Collection Spotted

It seems Sony is readying another HD collection of classic PlayStation 2 games.
Amazon France has a product listing for Ratchet & Clank HD Collection. It has a release date of May 16, 2012. No other details from the listing were revealed.
This doesn't confirm a collection is coming just yet, but history shows it's likely to be true. To date, Sony has released HD collections for God of War, Sly Cooper, ICO & Shadow of the Colossus, and Jak and Daxter.
Game Informer has contacted Sony for comment.

I love Ratchet and Clank! Now if the Vita would play the PS2 collection from the PSN - well Sony that would mean I would be buying a Vita ALONG with 2 of the BIGGEST memory cards you offer.

I agree with you. Ratchet&Clank is one my favorite childhood games. And most likely the Vita will play the collection, because when you buy these games on the PSN, they're separate downloads (like the J&D Collection)

But yes, I was so fucking happy when I saw this news. And it can only get better because, Sony has released a ton of HD collections, Ratchet & Clank would be no exception to this point. It was bound to happen.

So...

It may seem like this is just a rumor, according to several sources, the collection has been pulled off listing from Amazon France.

Having scored with HD remakes of previous-gen series such as God of War and Jak & Daxter, it's reasonable to think Sony could well be casting around for another property to reinvent for the 1080p crowd. Such an assumption's helped by the fact that Amazon's French division recently just went ahead and listed Ratchet & Clank: HD Collection with a May release.

The listing, which gave the collection's release date as May 16, has since been pulled; Sony has issued an announcement tersely reminding the world that “we have not made any announcements regarding a Ratchet & Clank HD Collection.” There's plenty of good playing in the pre-PS3 R&C titles (indeed, we were already asking for a collection like this back in 2010) and Sony's logically-fallacious statement leaves plenty of possibility for such a collection to surface between now and May.

Although, I still believe there is a HD Collection coming out. I mean, Sly Cooper is out, J&D is out...It's not right to keep R&C from becoming a HD collection, and it should, because it will strike Sony riches.

It’s amazing that it’s been almost 10 years since the release of the original Ratchet & Clank on PlayStation 2. A lot has changed since 2002, but your loyalty to our furry Lombax and his faithful robot companion has endured. As we reach the 10th Anniversary of Ratchet & Clank, we wanted to commemorate the achievements of the Ratchet & Clank saga.

Today, we’re delighted to announce the Ratchet & Clank 10th Anniversary Celebration, which also simultaneously addresses the biggest current request from our fans: The Ratchet & Clank Collection. This will contain Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal – all remastered by Idol Minds, working closely with our team at Insomniac Games. In addition to a full 1080p HD remaster (720p stereoscopic 3D support) of all three games and the inclusion of three Platinum Trophies, we’re happy to confirm that the online competitive multiplayer from Up Your Arsenal will be included. Now you can check out the acclaimed multiplayer mode that many of you didn’t get to experience the first time on PS2.



The collection will release this fall in North America. I know it’s a little bit later than the Spring European release, but it’s because we have something very special planned for our North American fans to celebrate the 10th anniversary, and we’ll share all the details very soon.
