I was gutted and shocked yesturday to learn a British movie legend had passed away. I first seen Edward Woodward in the Wickerman back in college and it moved me to tears at the end because
he dies and no one comes to save him from being burnt in the Wickerman.

Also he was amazing and so funny in Hot Fuzz with Simon Pegg and co. Truly a talented actor. He appeared in episodes of The Bill, Messiah and Eastenders. But I think people will mainly remember him for Wickerman, Hot Fuzz and playing Robert McCall in The Equalizer. Oh yeah, he was in an Agatha Christie film movie called The Man in the Brown Suit afew weeks ago on ITV.

Great man, who will be missed.

:gonk:

Ack. It's a shame to hear that. :ness:

I'm a bit of a fan of the Wickerman, and enjoyed his performance in it. Seeing him yelling out
"JEEEESSSUUSSS!!!!!" while burning alive, while Christopher Lee and all the other island inhabitants merrily chant and dance,
was pretty extraordinary. The scene felt so real, I'm surprised he wasn't actually
burned alive
on set!

I've seen Hot Fuzz, but I can't remember him in that. Perhaps because I didn't recognise them and link them together as the same person.

Wickerman was terrifying, but his fear in the movie made it what its become, a cult classic, I believe. Such a wonderful actor.
