Quantum of Solace

Saw this the other day, it was okay I thought but not as good as Casino Royale. And I think that I generally prefer the earlier Bond films anyway.

I didn't really like Olga, and Fields was the most pointless character ever. >_> Although I did like how Bond didn't end up sleeping with Olga for once.

I hated the directing too, I thought that was awful. Okay sure, it made it seem more fast-paced, but it gave me a headache and was overall quite confusing.

I do kind of like Another Way to Die though. It was the first time I had heard it when I saw the movie after being told by my sister that it's awful and sounds like bad karaoke, but I did like the style of it and thought it suited the film rather well.

I'm not going to bother with it. From what I've heard it's a rather poor film. :monster:
It's over action-packed, little dialogue, shit script in general/plotless, poorly directed, camera is poorly positioned when filming, some characters are just there for the sake of it and from what I've heard, even Craig wasn't all that good.
Plus the fact it is being compared more to Bourne rather than Bond.

So I think I'll give it at miss. :)

Yeah, it was too much like Bourne than Bond. The shots are far too quick in the action scenes. Although his fight with Slate was quite like the Connery days, it was just too short.
They totally ruined the MI5 building; it looks far too futuristic and like something out of Minority Report. And M's new office is crap. Plus, when Bond was there they had the perfect chance to put Q in the film, but didn't.
Strawberry Fields was as pointless as an appendix, and so was including Felix Leiter. I did like the little reference to Goldfinger with the way Fields was killed though.
It ended too suddenly and unexpectedly, but it was a nice change for Bond not to kill the bad guy directly.

And was it just me, or did the Canadian agent at the end look suspiciously like Strawberry Fields? >>

Well after the success of the Bourne films and the new direction that they're taking you sorta had to expect that the film would have less what you'd consider to be Bond elements. I kinda like it but saying that I'm a massive fan of the Bourne Trilogy.

The only complaints I had for this was the length, which was way too short for a Bond movie as well as the feeling that the film was basically a tie-in for the first and third films. It required you to know what happened in the last one as well as needing to see the third one to actually get the ending. I think tat peoples opinions of it would improve when Bond 23 is out but yeah I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad disappointed.

But saying that although it didn't reach the level of Casino Royale (which it never had a chance to) it was an enjoyable enough film. And yeah the MI5 building and tech was pretty damn crappy.
