PSP or DS FF remakes?

I would say the DS is a better buy out of the two. Games are way better, and you have so much to choose from. The PSP has a couple of great games like FFT and Crisis Core but really, for the price you pay for it, it should have a larger library.

I have a psp and I enjoy it cause you can add music and movies to it and have a few games but I would love to have a DS for some of the final fantasy remakes

I have both PSP and DS Lite, And gotta admit my poor PSP is just stuck in a draw. Even with Custom firmware I don't really find it that much fun compared to the DS.

Also for the comment about PSP wins cause of custom firmware.... Wrong my dear lol

Ever heard of a DS R4 Card?

As for the FF Games I think they should stick with the DS, Theres so much potential with the DS!

Theres a reason the old FF's are classic so stop tryin to bang them into new age graphics.

Please could I remind people that this thread is about FINAL FANTASY remakes on the PSP or DS and to try and link to Final Fantasy when posting as not to make it into a "PSP or DS is better than the other because it does this...". Try and apply that to why it would be appropriate to an FF title.

The thread title has also changed to avoid confusion.

Thanks.

There may be potential but it's less than the PSP's potential. And it's the DS that is 'banging them' into new age graphics not the other way around. I'd just prefer the older ones in updated and enhanced 2D like the PSP's I and II, keeping their 'classicness' rather than III and IV DS's rubbishly done 3D. >_<

Love you

Of course they didn't bother anyone. They had a great storyline. And not to mention, technology was poor back then.

Oh and that DS R4 card......I have it, and it pales in comparison to the PSP's custom firmware. The Internet for it is in html format, which isn't good.

Anyway, on topic, I go for PSP as long as they put decent title in. Not like FF1 and 2.

And DS is still a relatively weak system. At the time PS1 was good. But DS has an excuse; It's handheld. Also, story is an opinion. I personally think FF3/4>>>>>>FF7/8. 9's a different story.

Firmware's not my biggest problem, so I'll stay out of that.

I'm not supporting the DS's system. And the DS may well be handheld, but so is the PSP. If the DS has the processing speed of 300 MHZ, then I would go for it. It would have far more capabilities then.

I really want them to remake FF6 for the PSP, not for the DS. FF6's graphics won't improve much on a DS. And seriously, aren't a companies true motives for creating a remake for any game, to improve the graphics? Either that or bug fixes/extras.

So suddenly graphics are all that matters? The DS remakes clearly have higher produvtion values, so I'd prefer to see at least 5 on DS. 6 can anywhere as long as it's 6. I friggin' love that game.

It's just easier, cheaper, and more lucrative to make the remakes on DS...In Japan (& abroad?), the DS outsells the PSP...I mean, damn, guess what system Dragon Quest IX is going to be on? Maybe if Sony didn't come out with a flawed gaming system, the PSP would have more SE games for it...? *shrugs* Although i think it's starting to get some reputable games for it now as it goes along...

But really, I don't see any one company winning the current System Wars because each one has their own niché now, both within the gaming community & within their gameplay elements...The best way to reach the most gamers seems like a good idea to me though...

It makes sense to bring out more FF games on the DS. When it comes to remakes, not everything is about graphics. If they implemented touch screen features really well, then I think it'd be pretty cool. But I don't want a remake on either handheld overall, I want it on the PS2 or something.

Ugh...when it comes to remakes, a graphics overhaul is one of the main reasons the company actually produces a remake. But graphics don't play an enormous role in new games.

The reason the DS sold more than a PSP was because the PSP was more expensive, the DS' games were cheaper, the DS had a better overall games collection. The DS suited kids for all ages unlike a PSP.

^ The touch screen features for FF3 on the DS, were not very....useful. As much as I enjoyed FF3, it would've been better on a PSP. Why? Because the game didn't use the features of a DS.

Well yes actually...or no...yes, no...I like Swords!

Main reason for a remake so it's in pretty graphics, not for new gameplay elements. Otherwise if they made the gameplay different, they may as well re-write the story and call it Final Fantasy IV: After the After Just Before Tea Time Next Day.

The way I see it, if the graphics are better; Good. But it's not like the DS versions will make your eyes bleed. It's graphics would've been subpar on PSP, and there could be no overhead map. Okay, not a big change, but still. PSP would be just another graphical overhaul, too.

The main reason for remakes shouldn't be for graphics, but to reach a new and/or broader audience. I don't think it should be solely so that the oldschool gamers can oooooh and ahhhhhh over how pretty the games they've already played can look now...Plus, gameplay is usually played so that the oldschoolers can't simply go through them with the same strategies, which makes the remakes unique from their previous incarnations and I think that's a good thing too.

Well i would have to say that i am a bit biased when it comes to this subject. I am PSP all the way. I dont really care for touch screen. Better graphics are cool as long as they can keep the story line good and good characters. ^_^ well my vote says that if its a choice between the two go with PSP because in my opinion PSP is way better then a DS is.

I say PSP all the way. Better graphics better controls I think and just stuff like that. DS may be more populor but the PSP seems superior. You can watch movies and play games which is sweet. Plus graphics.

The one thing I really like the PSP is that fact that i can buy my favorite anime games that are not in America like Bleach and they will play on my PSP. It may not be in english but I can still play them since they are fighting games. ^_^ and the fact that you can play movies on it and use it as a mp3 player if you so chose to. you can even story movies on it if you have a big enough memory stick. You can change the background, you can go on the internet with it. There is just so many things that you can do with it.
