I am playing FF7 for PC, and in some point, especially world map battles! The screen flashes and goes black for a second and goes bakc to a window saying ff7.exe has encountered an error and needs to close. How can I fix this?

It sounds like you need to get a legit copy to me.
what the heck does that mean? don't ask me to get the PS1 version i don't have a PS1
that happens to me rarely, but it does happen quite some times, especially in scenes
before, I have problems, similar to you, in world map, it takes ages to load the battling thing, and to get out of cities, takes ages loading it.
but what I did is change the config, change it around, hopefully it will do better
try going it at lower graphic quality
or if all doesn't work, that means you need a bigger RAM

It means buy an original copy of the game, nothing to do with the PS1 version. Chill.
ok i don't play the pc version but the ps2 and ps3 will play it also and i think he meant that you should try to get a pc version strait from the company
It means go out and buy the game instead of getting an illegal version. And FFVII will play on a PS2 anyway.
Maybe you need the windows XP patch? that can be used to fix the problems with FFVII pc, and it even works on downloaded copies, not that i approve or anything, but if needs be then there is the solution

try moving your save folder somewhere then reinstalling the game
