Whilst I'm well aware that we're still post upgrade/mid clean up, I'm here to make a small proposition about the postbit.

For those who aren't aware, the postbit is the bit of user information located next to the post.

<-- Here

The recent upgrade has really cluttered it up, and while it looks like small arrows have been added to hide that info, it only hides it per post, and not for the entirity of the forum (which I would kinda like). And some of that info's pretty neat, but I don't think that it needs to be in the postbit? Maybe just in the profile?

I'm bringing this up because maybe the postbit customization option will also be available? With the upgrade I believe the plugin's optional, it all depends on whether or not it's wanted enough and what staff think about it. Postbit customization's pretty neat, it allows you to colour code one half of the font, as well as the other.

Here's my old postbit from another forum that utilized this.

You'll also notice that the postbit's a lot cleaner, and smaller. With the recent upgrade it's been stretched severely and a lot of that info doesn't need to be there. I think that at most we'd need

With the RPG still being reworked into the upgrade, that info could may/may not be included underneath all that.

tl;dr, if we're going to be getting the plugin for custamizable postbits, then maybe we should cut out the fat and make it neater? And if not, maybe trim it down anyway to eliminate messiness?

What say you?

I'd be happy with that suggestion, as I told you on MSN. Don't get me wrong, I like the VBActivity things (without understanding any of it xD) but, it would look a lot neater if that was kept to just a user's profile; same with RPG stats, now that you've mentioned it.

Personally, I just think it needs to be cleaned up a bit. I like it, but it is cluttered. Just the option to be able to customize what you see would be fine. However, I'm good either way, I suppose.

I like this too :ohoho:

But do the name's get different colors too? Like will my "Caliquin" be able to change from white?

Ahh! Thank you, that was another feature. As part of the Postbit Customization, there are options to change your name and usertitle colours. It's all in the UserCP directly in the edit profile, and it hardly cluttered the action outlook of the profile when you were in the UCP.

The Username colour didn't appear outside of posts though. So on the overall outlook of the forum, in the sb and at the bottom where it says who's online, regular members were still white. However when you made a post, it did colour.

As far as usertitles go as well, I'm not sure if it's just disabled or not, but you could freely add html code into the textbox as you changed your usertitle. I checked here an there's ample enough room to allow for all the characters to fit with codes, but it doesn't show up when it's saved. So I think it's just not enabled here.

scratch that i sux cox, that's already enabled here :britt:

:ohoho:

That sounds so kewl, channi! I hope it can be added. Wait--wouldn't it confuse nonadmin/mods for regular members? :hmmm: How would we distinguish between the admin/mods/clan leaders from regular members?

Staff still have their name bolded, and we'd have the option to be any colour, whereas Staff I think, have to stay as they are. Usertitles such as Member Hierarchy (Full, Legendary, Site Staff) should be arranged right underneath the name, or the avatar, to help make it easier. And again, it's only it posts.

Mits told me on MSN about the whole VBShop thing when I was unable to get onto the site and how it has it has the option to let members change their username colour -- but also went on to say that it would not be implemented here on FFF. She didn't mention anything else mind.

Uhmmm Nah I dont want us to be abe to change our username color. I dont like sites that have ranks that change color. I like it the way it is now with no special classes. Special member classes kinda ruins the point of Veteran to be honest. :hmmm:

It wasn't about ranks changing colours, everybody could. The ranks where there to show, who wasn't on staff. And we do have it here, Veteran is part of the ranking system.

But if Mits said they're not doing it no biggie. The Postbit looks a lot cleaner now anyway (except for those gaudy moods)
