how important is autofocus to you as a cameraman?

it's the worst thing in world for me. 
i need total control over what you see, so i can't afford to let the camera decide what should be the focal point, or what it thinks the white balance should be etc etc

so then is there any reason for you to not find some old lenses on ebay and get a ring adaptor so you can mount them onto your 60d? i was reading about some apparently very good russian ones from the 70s. just a thought!
i've heard about those, and a few people have said they're not entirely safe. plus because they trick the camera into thinking it has a different lens mounted on it, you can lose control over some other functions

they can apparently cause permanent software damage to your camera, and i think void the warranty
