Hey guys, first off I'd like to say hello and this is my first post. I just joined the forums and i'm a long time FF fan, been playing since FFVII first released.

Anywho, I'm currently taking a walk down memory lane while at the same time knocking out a few of the main FF titles that i've yet to complete. Starting all the way back with the OG Final Fantasy and working my way up to 9 on my phone with emulators/hdmi/ps3 controller hookup, then i'm going onward to PS2 for FFX and FFXII, and so on.

Right now I've currently finished

Final Fantasy (Orgins PS Remake) *YES I've beaten it on NES before, just not this time.
Final Fantasy II (Origins PS Remake)
Final Fnatasy III (NES Fan Translated Version.) *I've played thru the DS version twice, it's weird/awesome seeing it in 8-bit.

Now i'm halfway (Maybe a little more) done with Final Fantasy IV, the Android port, and i'm loving it, since I only vaguely remember playing the older 2D version on SNES as FF2 way back when I was young.

After that I'm jumping RIGHT in to Final Fantasy V, and here are the versions I intend on playing:

Final Fantasy V (GameBoy Advance) NEVER PLAYED LOL
Final Fantasy VI (SNES or PSX Port) NEVER PLAYED LMAO
Final Fantasy VII + VIII + IX (PSX Original versions.)
Final Fantasy X + XII (PS2 Originals if there's no copy in the PS Store)
Final Fantasy XIII (PS3 I have no choice.) NEVER PLAYED ASWELL, I'm aware a lot of you hate it. I'm gonna do it though.

Anyway has anyone else here played through all (except the MMO's) the FF main titles recently? And I know it's tragic I have't played V or VI yet, but I'm really looking forward to enjoying them for the first time.

Anyway, i'd love to hear your opinions on the best versions of each game, and if you don't think I should play V or VI on a certain consol, let me know! I have pretty much all the consoles available, sans Wonderswan Color :p

I think that it's best to play FF V on the GBA and Final Fantasy VI on the PSONE

The GBA version of FF V has a better translation and gives the characters a better idea of their personality, and FF VI PSONE has better sound, better translation and the GBA takes away some of the dorky humor that the SNES original had. The PSONE version keeps it in.

How can you enjoy your Final Fantasy without your " Spoony Bard " moments ?

Also the FF V GBA has extra classes and one of the best things about FF V is it's awesome class system. The GBA version does have some extra dungeons and bosses, but they don't effect the game or story too much so ehhhhhh.

I think youll be suprised at how good 13 is compared to what others think. If you go into it thinking youll hate it, then u prolly will. go in with an open mind and choose for yourself :)

I entirely disagree here. The GBA version of FF6 is better because it doesn't take a million years to load everything. From the main menu, to each battle....it takes forever. The GBA version on the other hand takes about a second or two. As for the sound quality, you can hardly tell the difference, especially if you've never played the game before. Besides, there's nothing better than a portable FF game :lew:.

As for the translations however...I can't remember what it was like on the ps1 (derp!). Lesbians are probably right :monocle:.

I've never felt this way or noticed this. Never, ever. I know that the opening is a bit slow but it shows a small character wave, giggle, and say hello to you. The Menu loading up, never felt this way. :/

idk maybe I'm wrong here. But showing a character do things AND load the screen quickly would be pretty hard to do.

You can download the PlayStation version on the PSP for cheap. Less than $ 10 * coughs * :jeri:

I think that we should let the OP judge for himself here.

To me that sounds throaty and cloudy compared to

But imo it would be best to let the OP judge. But I hardout believe that the GBA sound isn't as good as the PlayStation port. Like hardout.

There wasn't much of a change minus the fact that the took the " Spoony Bard-ness " Away from the original. Which is a huge sin. Like The GBA version has a more mature translation, but it looses some of it's before FF 11 - Final Fantasy feeling. I don't know how else to explain it, apart from that.

Edit- How come one 1 video rule ? How am I supposed to debate my point ???

But...it's really bad :lew:. It's a very popular complaint. Whether a character does something useless while it's loading is neither here nor there imo.

A big plus for the ps1 version right here :D

I honestly can't tell the difference between the two here, other than in the first 2 or 3 seconds. Is it just me?

I'd say a mature translation fits the mature, dark game that is FF6. There's still plenty of humour and everything.

Have you tried using the [ youtube] [ / youtube] code? :)

I'm not the best debater in the world :wacky:

Yeah The Forum says that you can only use one YouTube Video per post. Guess it's to save room and so those with a slow internet connection don't get slow down when heading into the forums.

I've never seen the compliant that FF VI PSONE loads too slow. I have heard that complaints about Chrono Trigger PSONE port, but not FF VI. Honest !

Yeah, but imo you need some comic relief to balance the game otherwise the player could feel miserable and depressed. Hence why in FF VII it has Cloud dressing up as a chick, FF VIII has Laguna, FF IX has Zidane and Steiner ~

And FF X has " HA, HA, HA, HA HA, HA HA " !

" HA, HA, HA, HA, HA " !

" HA, HA, HA, HA, HA " !
