It's a bit tricky even on disc 3. You have to wait until the kid falls asleep otherwise he wakes up and catches you. The reward is quite good though. 30,000 gil, Coffee and...something else I can't remember.

eDIT* ive done it now, apparently I had to search the desk THREE times then check the bloody heater :stare:
