I do not know if this is sold in the US, but over here in the UK there is this guide made for XII by a company called Piggyback, does anyone know if it is any good?

piggyback im pretty sure published the official final fantasy guides at least her in the uk

I find that Piggyback guides in general are pretty good. However, the guide for XII is a bit more confusing compared to some of their earlier work.

The Piggyback guide is rather good, it's very in-depth and covers some stuff that the Brady Games American guide doesn't. However, the one big problem I have with it is that it covers sidequests in amongst the main quest. It didn't bother me so much since I was just about finished with the Japanese XII when I bought the guide, but I imagine that anyone using it during their first time through who's just looking for a quick hint might have trouble avoiding spoilers of any sort as far as optional stuff goes.

It's funny that you say that, I've got the Bradygames guide and one of the main things that I didn't like about it is the side quests werent mixed in with the main quests. When I was using the guide for that kind of stuff it would have been a lot easier to just flip to the page I'm at and see stuff, main quest or not, that I could be doing. For example, all three times I've gone through the game I completely forgot about the earth tyrant so I ended up going and beating him at like level 60 (against a level 30). It would be a lot more fun for me if I had been told roughly at level 30 to go and kick the earth tyrants ass so I could get the proper challenge out of it.

That's true, some people may prefer it to be that way with the side-quests integrated into the main game. Like I say it didn't bother me because I'd already played most of the game, and I'm not too fussed about spoilers either. But I do know some people who haven't been that happy about them being set in amongst the main guide.
