I am having a bit of an issue with trying to use Photoshop CS2 on my computer. I did too when I used my grandma's computer, and both of the errors reported as, "This account does not have the proper administrative tools." - Therefore, refusing to let me use it. (Leading to me having to uninstall it to make room again.) The only thing is that there's only one account on this computer (and my grandmother's), and it is indeed the Administrator of the system. One thing I do wonder though if this has anything to do with that both computers are Windows 7. With any other computer with a different program, I can smoothly use any version of PS. But it seems to be the W7 systems I'm getting this error message. I'm wondering if anyone still uses CS2, but it does everything I focus on when doing projects, so that's why I stick with it rather than spending grands of money on updated versions. But what I'm really wondering is what "administrative tools" the message is referring to, or does Photoshop CS2 even work on Windows 7?

I use windows 7 and cs2 and have never had any problems at all. When clicking on ps have you tried running as administrator? Might solve your problem though honestly im not sure.

your font is so small, its a c**t to read -____-

I've checked out my control panel multiple times, and it always says that this account is an administrator - and it won't let me switch to a regular user, so that's the thing I'm confused about. Problem is the very moment I start up PS, that message automatically comes up, and then the program shuts itself down; giving me no access whatsoever.
At least it's readable .

To partially answer your question, it definitely isn't the case that this problem only shows up in Windows 7 machines. I have a laptop with Vista and I encountered the same problem you had when I tried to open up CS2.

As for why this happens, I have absolutely no idea. The only thing I could find were installation troubleshooting solutions here. I haven't really read through this myself, so I don't know if it has the solution, but other than that I'm not really sure what to suggest.

I think Big Casino meant to right-click the shortcut (I think the shortcut works at least) and go into properties, then the compatibility tab, and then check "run this program as an administrator". ... though that's how I would do it in Vista, I'm not sure if Windows 7 has the EXACT same options. You might also try running it with compatibility packs such as Vista has, if Windows 7 has those options.

I don't think it offered me those options whenever I right-clicked the icon, but it's really not a problem anymore. I just got the full version of CS5 Extended on my laptop due to the help of one of my wonderful friends. But thank you all for the assistance anyhow ~ <3
