Phobia (n.) - an intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people, diagnosed to be lasting for more than 6 months.

I know we're all afraid of something (don't try to deny it), but the question is what do we fear the greatest/worst? To be honest, I have Astraphobia (fear of thunder and lighting). I absolutely HATE thunderstorms and the when I hear the very first bit of thunder, I immediately crawl into bed to try and sleep through whatever is to come. I'm also diagnosed with Arachnestophobia (fear of webs), and the slightest strand of silk from the web will freak me the fuck out. I can't even stand looking at simulations (I was actually playing with one this morning, and I cringed everytime I ran my mouse over the web or clicked it to break it apart.) One of my friends has a very severe case of claustrophobia, and she can get anxiety just from being in a small crowd of people. I hope that we can outgrow these morbid fears at some point. I've had mine since I was 8 years old. But do any of you have any phobias you want to talk about ?

Arachnophobia- Fear of spiders.

I CAN'T STAND THEM!!! With their eight legs and their creepy crawliness. How can anyone stand to even be near them is beyond me. They look like monsters who might all carry poison or some sort. I can't even stand spiders that are on t.v. They just scare me to no end.

I have even done research on them and I know they all don't have poison or diseases, but they still look contaminated and creepy.

Spiders are just gross.... I think my biggest personal fear is tornadoes. I've always been scared of them since I was very young. I don't live in tornado alley thankfully, but we have been getting more and more of them here lately and its really starting to creep me out. Just last month on my day off I heard the sirens going off at 0800 and I was so tired I kinda tossed a couple of times in bed while they were going off and I thought "wtf it isn't Saturday???" (Where I live they test the Tornado sirens the first Saturday of every month) So I finally got up and looked around and got that creepy chill down my back when I looked outside...the clouds were swirling all low and.... :panic: 2 minutes after that they stopped and I went back to bed. Later that day I heard on the news that there was an actual tornado and the damage path stopped at the church at the end of my block. Sooo yeah, sleep, I guess I'll die to get some... :monster:

My biggest fear is losing a loved one. That includes both people and animals. I don't really fear any kind of objects, animals, or anything that can actually physically hurt me. I fear more about being affected emotionally.

I used to fear being alone, but I kind of had to live alone and I was alone a lot so I had to pretty much get over that fear. But even with my animals, and now that I have friends and people I care about, my biggest fear would be to lose them
