There are names, words and terms I hear far too much in videogames used for various things, and it's started to confuse me with which game I'm playing at some points >.<

One of the worst I've heard was the word "Ragnarok"...

It's a Weapon in Final Fantasy VII

It's an Airship in Final Fantasy VIII
It's a mystical creature in Final Fantasy XIII
It has it's own god damn MMORPG called Ragnarok Online.

I'm sure I barely scratched the surface with that one.

We've also got things like:

Mana

Omega
Gaia
Behemoth
Ultima
Excalibur
and more...

A lot of these show up in FF games for traditional reasons, but that doesn't exempt them from being present in other games and things, too. I understand each of these terms have their origins from mythology and actual things, but honestly, some things could have used better names that we haven't heard 15894375 times in RPGs and various other forms of media.

Know anything else?

"Chronicles".

Why must that word appear in countless videogame titles? Xenoblade Chronicles, Sonic Chronicles, Dark Chronicles, the Chronicles of Narnia games just to count them, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Valkyria Chronicles, White Knight Chronicles - oh, and that's hardly an exhaustive list. These are just the names that I can come up with from the top of my head.

The need to slap the word on the end of "Xenoblade" for example, just baffles me. What is the point? Well done guys, you've just taken a rather decent videogame name and slapped one word on it to instantly make it nice and generic! Kudos to you all!

2. We're getting far too many sequels to subpar games these days...and it wouldn't kill them to come up with a better title. Dead Space 2. BioShock 2. Mass Effect 2. Dragon Age 2. Darksiders 2. White Knight Chronicles 2. Assassin's Creed 2. It is what is says on the tin, and absolutely nothing else.

I think using terms like "HP" and "MP" falls outside the realm of overused, because what else would they call them? xD

Zephyr.
A Zephyr cape is a relic in FFVI.
A Zephyr ring is an accessory in FFXIII.
A main character in Resonance of Fate.
An independent gaming company in NY.
A boss in Castlevania: Demon of Sorrow.
A djinn in Golden Sun.
The Zephyr in WoW.
A badge given in Pokemon Silver/Gold.
Queen Zephyr in Xenogears.
And these are just the ones I know of. I've heard there is one in Diablo too, and I'm sure many more.
