There are a lot of incredibly awesome and terrific characters in the Final Fantasy series. Not all of them though are nearly as great as everyone makes them out to be. There are a lot of characters I hate (Cait Sith) but for the most part everyone hates Cait Sith. What I mean is which characters do people really really like, that you think are just... worthless.

Tifa - i just despise her and her army of fanboys/girls piss me off making her into something shes not.

All of them except Edea and Rinoa - the rest were Just Noobs.

FFX

Wakka - Why is HE the ONLY one with the accent? plus theres no way im going to play blitzball to get his overdrives.

FYI, I like both Tifa and Aeris. It's close-minded tards that fuck it up for everyone else. Whether they're Tifa or Aeris fanboys.

Locke: sure he goes through a lot fo struggles, but he's no different or more important than Edgar, Sabin, Cyan, etc. People tend to think Locke is the main character in the game at times, but I disagree on many many levels. But that's a whole different topic. ;)

FFVII
Tifa: sure she's a knock-out looker, and I love her, but she's mainly a long-time friend of Cloud's, and nothing more.

FFVIII
Squall: Papa Smurf could ahve done the same exact job and made it more enjoyable for those around him. Squall had great skills, but his personality blew Donkey Kong wang.
Irvine: He choked in clutch time. If ya can't handle the target, put down the gun; for good.

FFIX
Vivi: Sure he's cute and adorable and innocent, but that's mainly why everyone loves him. I'd rather be friends with a cheetah than a teddy bear if ya follow my drift...

Auron: Don't shoot me just yet! Yes he's one of my favorite all-time characters, but seriously...do you know of any Auron haters? (besides Yunalesca) None. This guy is AWESOME, but there's no one to disagree with us, so I choose him.

FFXII
Basch: Before the game was even released in America, you'd have fans saying "I love Basch because he's BADASS!!" Ummm....no. Maybe he's not really the most overrated character, maybe just the most misunderstood one.
Penelo: She sucks. Anyone that likes her needs their eyebrows stapled together.

Overrated doesn't necessarily mean bad. It just means that sometimes the level of hype is so elated that people get sick of hearing about it. Ya know?:cool:

VII: Cloud, Sephiroth, Vincent
VIII: Squall, Rinoa
IX: ..?
X: Tidus, Yuna
X-2: Yuna, Paine
XII: Ashe, Balthier, Fran (I like Balthier and Fran, I just don't think they're as great as Basch and many others - IMHO, there are other characters that are better deserving of love. Basch is not just a powerhouse, he is a genuinely lovely man. Call me corny, but he is a very kind person. WHO NEEDS LOVE)

Tifa - always speculated to be Cloud's love interest. She's nothing but a long time friend. And she happens to have huge knockers.

FFVIII
Squall - (here's where the fun begins)
Squall is not an elite mercenary force. He's only been a student at Balamb for 2 years tops, and like I said before...if you paid any of the FMVs throughout the game...you'd notice that almost half of the students know how to wield gunblades.
He's irrational, unsure of himself, he breaks into a government facility to free his girlfriend; who just moments before he didn't even know how he felt about her. He's a crybaby, and he gives orders based on what the other's tell him to do. Horrible, horrible character if you ask me.

Basch - Well...I hear so many people hyping his character up, but to be honest...he was so boring, I never had him in my group. =x

lol I just wanted to say though that I get what you're saying about Basch. People are very divided on this character. He was the tough guy. The military general... but like Rhea said, he's kinda boring. WHen you first meet him and he's helping you mobilize the resistance, he's pretty bruce willis-take action kind of guy. Later on though, he's more about doing what's right. They kind of let Basch take a backseat to Balthier on the whole action front. And later Basch takes a back seat to Reddas on the whole philosophy front. So he's definitely an interesting character.
 
If you really thing about it most characters are overrated in some of the games like FFX for example with the sphere grid.

It depends on who you like because every character can learn the sphere grid and be as useful as whoever else if they learn the skills. All you gotta do is spend the time to level up.

Also in FFVI, you can equip the right espers for stat boosts, Equip a genji glove/offering combo with 2 atma weapons(FFVI advanced) and be as strong as anybody else.
 
You misunderstand. Not as in stats. Not like physical power or anything like that. Some people like certain characters more than others, just based on their personality. But every FF gamer thinks, at some point, that another gamer over-appreciates the personality of a certain character. That's what I'm asking you to post. If you think some character is thought too highly of.
 
I see what your saying but some people were saying that lets say Auron would be better because of his high strength, but in reality anyone can be as strong as him. So in other words choose your favorites and you can make them as strong as any other in certain games.
 
I would say that Reno is overrated...but...Not nearly as bad as Squall is. =x

They said Tifa was overrated, and I said opinions shouldn't be stated as facts, in my own special way. If they can't handle a little opposition to their posts, then they should keep their opinions to themselves.

I didn't know stating my opinion on close-minded tards was a law around here.

I like all three of them, which is why I get so irked when people have something STUPID to say about any of them.

Tifa's boobs isn't any reason why i like her. I don't even care for boobs.

Tifa's character and relationship with the others is why I love her so.

My favorite character is Red XIII, obviously. ^_^
He reminds me of spiro the dragon for some reason.
We would have so much fun running around in cosmo canyon and looking for lost treasures together. <3
But he's an underrated character I think. =x
