You screwballs can decide where this goes. I have no fucking clue.

So is anyone here into operas and musicals? I know right? Same guy who just made the Heavy Metal topic awhile back is now making this thread but you can go fuck yourself. I like this shit in small doses.

I've seen the Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera. Others I'd like to see include Carmen and Les Miserables. I completely heart the song Empty Chairs at Empty Tables. Fucking awesome.

Well I'm going to be in an opera, I don't know if you've heard of Gilbert & Sullivan's operas, they did ones like Pirates of Penzance, HMS Pinafore, The Mikado.. The one that I'm in is Ruddigore, I only joined the society last August after seeing last year's production of Pirates of Penzance. To be honest I hadn't heard of them beforehand, but since joining I've become more interested in them as some of the songs that we do are lovely.

I like Musicals too, but if I don't like the songs then it puts me right off, like Sweeney Todd. D: I haven't seen any stage productions unfortunately but there are a few that I'd like to see if I get the chance, like Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Chicago and some others.

I've never seen any Operas, but I do enjoy Musicals from time to time. I can't remember the last Musical stage production I saw, I really enjoyed the movies Sweeney Todd and The Producers though.

Musicals never fail to cheer me up. Me and my friend watch them together cause we like the songs - Mamma Mia, Dreamgirls, Hairspray, Phantom of the Opera, all awesome. I've only seen Les Miserables on Broadway though, and it was fantastic.

Although me and my friend were sat next to some old woman, and she burst into tears during this one song, and it was extremely awkward because we were trying so very hard not to laugh.

Personally I have a hard time putting works of art like Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera in the same category as fucking Mama Mia. Musicals like Mama Mia are all about women and girly men prancing about scratching their vaginas to songs about love. It's gay. You have to be queer to like that stuff.

Phantom, on the other hand, is this great story of politics, drama, and revenge. The characters are very deep. The plot is very engaging. And the songs are about more than just hugging and kissing thy fellow homo. It's a great story that just so happens to be best told through song.

EDIT: Great song - HTTP://www.piano.ac/juke/others/Phantom-Masquerade.mp3
