I like the avatar, nice attempts for someone new to photoshop. Do some tuts theyl help you get a better understanding of how to use the different functions available to you.
Most of all though keep practising.

They aren't bad at all for a first try! I mean, after a couple of tutorials like Lewis said, and you will improve. No doubt about it. I really like the avatar. Only thing i see that could be missing is more things happening in the background. Also, the sigs are pretty big. Smaller sigs are easier to fill spaces, so give those a shot

Try making a smaller sig, In my opinion I like smaller sigs better too.
