1) The world - graphical environment, different places, backhistory.
2) Recurring themes - Cid characters, monsters, weapons, magic.
3) Fresh battle system - whether it be dresspheres, sphere grids, license grid.
4) Characters - personalities vary from the classic angst ridden hero to the hyper girl party member.
5) Story - It has to be an epic, whether it be war based or saving the world based.
THATS what makes a Final Fantasy![]()
Right, this game didn't have those. I think that was his point.
1. The FMVs were absolutely beautiful but the graphics were grainy and choppy due to less pixels used in character models. The world had very little backstory with the exception of Nabreas, which still was very light on backstory.
2. All new names for summons and very few reoccurring themes.
3. It did have a fresh new leveling system, which really was not even remotely up to par with the other game's leveling systems simply due to multiple complications but mainly that most of the license board pieces were absolutely useless and simply there for filler.
4. We've all discussed that the members were very weak in this game. Characters like Bathier, Fran, and Basch were fairly well developed but not nearly as much as characters from other titles... and characters like Vaan and Penelo had absolutely no development whatsoever.
5. The story itself was fairly grand and complex. I did enjoy the story but I think for most people the characters were so weak that the story didn't really matter to them because they didn't care about anyone involved.
