Rumor – Black Ops 2 to release in November

A place holder posted on French retail chain Fnac’s website has claimed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be released in November.

The information appeared on the Spanish end of the retailer’s portal before quickly vanishing, but Gamepur luckily snapped a shot of it.

The add said “November ’12″, which would be in line with the first Black Ops release in November 2010 and just about every other Call of Duty title – all tend to release during the first, full week of the month between the 8th and the 11th, depending.

So, obvious November release window is obvious.

Earlier this month, Amazon France posted a listing for the game before it was, like with Fnac’s, quickly removed and many French sites reporting the retailer’s slip-up were reportedly blacklisted by Activision France for refusing to remove the offensive information.

All was eventually resolved with olive branches handed out to all.
We’ll send a mail to Activision on this, but we don’t expect the firm to confirm anything until it’s ready.

Thanks, MCV.

Rumor – Black Ops 2 multiplayer details and release date leaked

A thread on the official Black Ops forums, which has since been taken down, has supposedly revealed much on the still unannounced Black Ops 2 and its multiplayer component.

According to the original post, which has since made the rounds on the Internet, Treyarch’s next installment in the series will be released on November 6 and contain a new Escort mission mode similar to Search and Destroy with game rounds “consisting of one life only,” reports CVG.

Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return as well, but Team Defender and Infected will not, states the rumor.

If any of this is true, best be a bit cautious of potential spoilers should you choose to go through the link, in case anything new has been added to the forefront.

Obvious rumors from earlier in the month pegged the game for release in November as well.

[h=1]Rumor – Black Ops 2 reveal coming in two weeks[/h] A retail source has sent Kotaku an image of teaser poster which is purportedly some sort of save the date deal for Black Ops 2. The date on the poster is for May 2 where it states to come back for a “debriefing.” Note the Treyarch and Activision logos on the poster. If legitimate, it means more news on the next Call of Duty game will be revealed in the next couple of weeks. We’ll send a mail to Activision on this, but we don’t expect the firm to confirm anything until it’s ready. Here’s a larger picture of the promo (thanks, AHA-Lambda).

May 1 Call of Duty premiere points to Black Ops 2

Activision has launched a countdown to the global reveal of the next Call of Duty – which rumours have pegged as Black Ops 2.

CallofDuty.com
promises the new game will be shown off during the May 1 basketball playoffs on US cable channel TNT.

The teaser site is dotted with “classified” logos, most of which are scheduled to unlock over the next few days. One yielded an image, which is below.

The image in the background of the site, also viewable below, shows a fizzy silhouette in a similar pose to that used to promote 2010′s Call of Duty: Black Ops, which fits nicely with predictions that Treyarch’s effort will be the new series complementing annual Modern Warfare releases.

The website’s source code also makes reference of “Black Ops,” as spotted by GAF.

Most tellingly, the timing of the reveal ties in almost perfectly with a promotional image spotted last week, promising a “return”.

Call of Duty: Black Ops outsold 2009′s Modern Warfare 2, and analysts believe it has out-performed Modern Warfare 3 so far.
