Of Chocobos , W-Item, and Bone Village

I'm trying to breed a Gold Chocobo but I'm having a bit of a problem. I spent a good 5 hours or more today breeding chocobos and finally succeeded in getting S rank Black and Wonderful chocobos. Stats are fairly high on both, my Wonderful has all but Stamina maxed out. I have the Zeio nut...and i've bred (and subsequently reset) the damn chocobos 20+ times and i'm still not getting a gold chocobo!

Thats when i read about the W-Item trick for use with the Sylkis greens...and then realized i had completely missed that materia in Midgar. I've seen mentioned in a couple walkthroughs that it's possible to dig it up in Bone Village if you missed it in Midgar, but most sites fail to mention this. So i'm wondering...is it true that you can get it in Bone Village, and if so, where?

And...i still have two more questions, gomen T_T

1. Is there any particular ratio to getting a gold chocobo, like 1/100 chance or something if both are S rank? Or is it just cruel and utterly random?
2. Why is it that in Bone Village, when i ask to search for GOOD treasure, i get craptastic potions? I would think potions would classify as normal treasure...

Hmm...I never had a problem getting a gold chocobo. Everytime I bred them, I got one on the first try. According to the chocobo guide at gamefaqs, however, it may take up to four hours to get a gold one, even if both are S-rank.

I've never missed the w-item materia in Midgar but I googled it and found this: http://www.brinkofinsanity.net/ffvii/BoneVillage.html It shows where to get some important items in bone village, including w-item if you missed it in midgar.

Erm...to any mod who sees this, you can kinda close this thread now as i got me a golden chocobo and the W-Item materia <.< Or i can just let the thread die.

Yes it CAN take 4 hours to get a golden chocobo! >__< Even once i'd maxed out my chocobo's stats it STILL took me a very long time to get a golden chocobo. Lucky you getting it on your first try...i'd hate to see how long it'd take if one of the chocobos was only an A rank.

And how did you find that map? O_O I searched aaaaaaall last night for locations of the items in bone village and didnt find anything that helpful! I guess you just have better luck than me xD

I just typed in "finding w-item materia in bone village" and it was the first site in the search results.

It's a good thing you can get it there if you missed it because it comes in handy when fighting weapon monsters.
