Novelty Weapons

Now I'm going back through the game on my 'Job' play-through, I can use these weapons without fear of running out of space for my Materia ^_^ They are strong and look funny, it's a shame the series didn't keep that little idea of novelty weapons. In IX would have loved to see Steiner wield a wooden sword like something out of Peterpan or sommit. Ah well >_<
 
The only one I used was Aeris' Umbrella. I thought this was useful as it gave her a decent attack power, and as for the lack of materia slots - I just equipped the Edincoat or Wizard bracelet. The Umbrella was especially useful when I was levelling up Aeris' limit breaks as she killed more konsters with the stronger attack.
 
You can get Aeris' Umbrealla by getting like 5000 points in Speed Square in the Gold Saucer. Cloud's Nailbat is in the Temple of the Ancients, I think you have to get knocked off the big clock by the seconds hand, then fight two ancient dragons, and the weapon is in a chest somewhere nearby. Cid's Mope is buried at the excavation site in Bone Village. Red XIII's Hairpin is in a chest in Wutai (I think), its in Godo's house in a secret passage. Yuffie's Superball must be won at Mount Condor by fighting in the mini game. and that's all I know...
 
I love Aeris's brolly, but I think the only one I ever used was the nail bat.

Novelty weapons are cool ^_^
 
Haha, these are so awesome. The only one I got myself was Cid's mop.

I think the idea for Cloud's nail bat is the funniest, but it doesn't look that funny. Vincent's Silver Rifle and Aeris' umbrella are the ones that really get me. Aeris' is great not only because she looks ridiculous, but because it reminds me of Princess Toadstool fighting with her parasol in Super Mario RPG. I like Vincent's Silver Rifle because he looks pretty damn adorable with a toy gun.

I'm pissed that they totally copped out with Tifa's weapon - work gloves, wtf? They don't look funny or even sound funny. They totally could've done oven mitts or crab claws. Figures that my favorite character would have the lame one.

Cloud's was funny, rocket puch was funny, the umbrella and mop, hilarious. But like eisprinz said, Tifa's could've been better... MUCH better... And yeah, oven mitts would've been hilarious.
