Has anyone besides me started such a challenge on FFXII? It's simple if you have guns and light armor.

Light armor raises a character's hp so the armor upgrades you get throughout the game will essentially raise your hp to the same level it would've been had you played a regular game. Obviously once you remove light armor, you lose that extra hp.

Guns are the best weapons for this challenge, as most enemies can be damaged with guns (with the exceptions of Bomb-type and Ghost-type monsters) and with a gun, you ignore defense! Meaning, despite your foes getting stronger and stronger as you proceed through the game, your weapons will do fairly consistent damage to them. It's even possible to hit 2,000+ damage with a gun before the Tomb of Raithwall - it just requires some planning ahead and some Bazaar-ing. :P

Since this is a No Level-up challenge, you cannot level up. (durr. :wacky: ) This makes the accessory Firefly a god-send :P It prevents you from gaining EXP when you kill monsters. You can first get this accessory in the Stilshrine of Miriam OR by poaching Slaven Wilders in the Eastersand near the Mosphora region. Poaching enemies does not give you EXP, so if you're in trouble, forget endangered species and POACH!

I've gotten past the Phon Coast already and am en route to Archades. However, I've already gotten the best possible weapon for this challenge, the Fomalhaut, and can kill the Mirror Knights in the Feywood with ease.

If anyone wants to start this challenge, or wants to ask me questions about the No Level-up Challenge, post!

That would be the 1-2-2-3-3-3 challenge. Its a hell of alot easier than the no-license board challenge I attempted, and even easier than other ones people have attempted.
I'm not sure if I could be bothered to attempt this...however, I might try the no-license board, low-level challenge. In this one, the use of Motes is essential. Its takes patience and time to farm them from the chests; as we all know, treasure is percentage based.

Okay mad props for anyone who can complete this game doing the 1-2-2-3-3-3 challenge that is F ing hardcore. I've tried it and it's like 10x more time consuming then playing the game normally. And the boss battles? Intense.

Good luck.

Seriouisly I agree with Celestial, anyone who can accomplish any of these challenges deserves some serious respect. I'll admit I dont think I would the paitence or the just plain nerve to play a game without leveling up. To me that is just something that goes along with playing final fantasy. So I say good luck to anyone who tries, but I know it is definately not for me.

I'll be posting periodic updates on where I am in this challenge, and anyone who starts the challenge who wants to do the same, feel free.

As I said above, I'm at the Tchita Uplands right now, but I might make a Feywood detour for a cash grab off the Mirror Knights. :P

It's not that hard if you know how to prepare. For example, before I hit the Tomb of Raithwall, I spend a bit of time gathering materials for the Arcturus. (second strongest gun in the game) And before that, I'd gathered materials for making the Aqua Shot. Arcturus deals 2,200+ damage alone. With the addition of Aqua Shot, water elemental - Belias' weakness, I finished him in maybe two hits. No Firaja for me. :wacky:

Ah I remember doing this one. Yes this challange is time consuming and can be troublesome if the player isn't cauthois enough but it is still a hell of alot easyier than the NLB and LL challange which is insane.

well i'm currently doing the challenge and i'm about to steal loot from king bomb and preparing for the henne mines. if you gather the right items, it really isnt that hard. this is my second playthrough of the game and i am having an easier time than the first. beat belias, ghis, demon wall, garuda and vossler all on the first try. if you try it, you'll see how simple it is.

The challenge seems interesting but I don't think I'll take it on, I agree with what TheLoneFrog said in that leveling just feels like something that goes hand in hand with final fantasy.

I believe I saw someone posting a 1,2,2,3,3,3 walk through on you tube a few months ago.
