I dunno about the mics.
WoTG is one of four expansions, you need all four to get all of the bonuses of FFXI. Just get the FFXI Vana'Diel Collections, it contains the game and all four expansions.
Race plays no importance, however, you can't meet people on different servers without changing server.

Also, mics do help a lot for end game events. Use em for things just as vent. That way you can keep your fingers on the keyboard for fighting and talk into the mic. Instead of having to type out orders to your shell.

I don't think WoG includes everything, it's just an expansion. You need one from a shop that says 'Final Fantasy XI' but, underneath CoP etc...
Also in FFXI all different races are together but if your friends are on a different server, you can send them messages but not in /tell because they won't be on your server.
If you did you could change server but it costs something I believe. If you've only just started and your friends on a different server you might aswell quit and start again.

Hope that helps - :)

Not sure about the mic. ^^

Is there still people who dont have the last 2 expansion packs?I can play the original version of the game too right? And how does the expansion system work?I play together with chars who have expansions or not?

You don't need the expansions to play, you can still play with people who have it, you'll just not be able to enter some area's that were included in the expansions. Problem with that, is people tend to migrate to new expansion locations and make that their new home (I.E favorite places to level). So if you don't have the expansion's most people will prolly try to go into area's you don't have access to.

Wings of the Goddess wont be a big deal(now) unless you want to level Scholar or Dancer... But you pretty much will need Treasures of Aht Urghan, you'll have a hard time finding a party that isnt in ToAU once you get 54+

I think that should be a good level to get it, its mostly the end game content that people use the new expansions for.

Just remember that Final Fantasy XI has been around for quite some time, and as unfortunate as it is to say it's dying off unless the activity has greatly improved since my departure from the game. It requires time, patience, and dedication. It's a wonderful game and I miss it dearly, but due to the lack of active users and sheer time I had to quit.

is it easier to play FFXI on a computer or usin a ps2/ps3 which ever one they have

Personally I liked it better on the PC. But I guess it all depends on if you have a good computer chair. For a system like PS2, PS3, Xbox, you can just lay down in bed or on the couch and play.

Ok, is final fantasy 11 any good, is it worth buying

I feel it was a GREAT game, most addictive game I've ever played. Worth buying is another question though. Cause it has been out for something like 6-7 years. I feel it might be a tad to late to jump in. It would be harder to get groups since most people have all their jobs maxed out.

But if you'd still like to give it a shot I'm sure you'd have fun.

Ok thanks, I just realized i got the game and it comes with 30 days trial! Im going to try it out tommorow!

A little of a Late response on this thread, but I just started FFXI again last friday and have noticed alot of people starting up their advanced jobs again, and/or just starting to play again on Hades Server.

The economy (auction house) seems to be doing fairly well in general. I would say if you start with a friend or two like I am you won't find to many problems.

If anyone is planning on starting up, you are welcomed to join or world pass over to Hades server. Bunch of us just starting up, and already have quite a bit of gil for starters. /tell Krazyshu .

Later.
