I have played the other FF's and have enjoyed all of them however in my mind this one is the best I just love the gameplay of FFVIII.
However I really don't know to much about it, What I am in need of is what is the best character set up for this game? I mean I want some people's opinions which GF's do you put with which characters? I have my own Ideas but I would like to hear the Ideas of some of the other people.
So what is your favorite game set up?
Thanks

Hmmm i beleive some characters are naturally better suited with cetain GFs however overall this does not give them that big of advantage, its miniscule really.
I tend to put my favourite GFs with my favourite characters, my usual party will also consist of my 3 favourite characters, usually Zell, Squall, Irvine but thats just me. Overall it wont really matter who you pick or what you junction, theres not a massive difference really. I say play the game as you want to, not how others would play.

It doesnt matter who has what GF's I don't think, to start off with, I just share them out evenly, then, becauise Im an old bore Il keep all opposing GF's apart, whilst still evenly spreading them out between my guys (ie, dont have Shiva & Ifrit on the same character etc)

I always give Squall Diabloss, every play through. Again, Im boring like that....

Also, moved to help booth - i think it will be better suited in there for you ^^

I too give Squall Diablos. I think another important thing is to try avoid giving GFs who have the same ability set to the same person. I.e., I think it is possible, with proper planning, to give everyone a different GF that has Initiative. There is a GameFAQs about it if you are interested.

Yeah ^

I split mine up so everyone can learn everything available as evenly as possible, I tend to just have one thing for each person left over at the end that I need to learn (luck being one of them - yuo can steal a luck jcn scroll from either cerberus or diablos) Likewise if you split them properluy, you can stel the scrolls for the oter things youre miossing aswel. I just used the set up in the guide for keeping the opposing GF's apart - it also dishes the abilities and wotnot even enough aswel

as mentioned before, just spread your GF's out evenly. or if you'd like, you could try setting it up so different people possess different 'jobs'. giving one guy a lot of HP and cover, and giving another guy a lot of strength bonuses, etc.

really i never found it to be that big of a deal. If you really want to get the most out of your gameplay and just be unbelievably powerful, you'll want to worry about magic junctioning.

the stronger your magic, the stronger the attribute that it's junctioned to. the strength of your magic is based on two things. the first is simply what type it is. obviously fire is going to be less powerful than firaga and so forth. the second is how many you have of that particular magic. 1 ultima won't do jack shit for you stats. but 100 ultima will max out just about anything you juction it to. this is how you take advantage of the junctioning system in this game, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise :)

good luck!

Make your GFs learn their Junction abilities then evenly spread them out among your 3 characters so that each character can junction magic to all the stats on the left hand side (STR, VIT, SPR etc.) I think only 2(?) GF naturally can learn SPD-J and 1 (Cactuar?) can learn Luck-J.
Yeah and Diablos for Squall is a good idea as you will always use Mug once Diablos learns it.
