Dissidia Final Fantasy Arcade/PS4 character discussion thread.

I did not feel that putting this in the dissidia subforum would garner much attention but until we get a new forum for the new Dissidia, this thread should remain here. For the sake of discussion, I thought it would be interesting to update this thread occasionally with character trailers. If you have been out of the loop, you probably do not know that there have already been quite a few. SE has already revealed most of the arcade roster but don't fret because Square Enix have already confirmed that the roster will build as time goes by, which means we may get the villains soon and some other new characters when the ps4 port is announced.

Noctis (future after FF XV)

To start the discussion though, which characters would you like to see make it in the roster? Would you welcome the addition of secondary heroes, villains, and the like in each game like 012 did? Examples include: Yuna, Tifa, etc.

I want to see Yuna come back, as probably everyone knows me as a huge Yuna fan on this forum. I think they could give her the same moveset like she had in Dissidia 012 but also touch things up a notch and incorporate her X-2 style of play in the game as well instead of making it a dlc outfit.

I think Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca from FF XII would be an excellent character addition to this game and they could get creative and make her wield both the treaty blade and the sword of kings. Perhaps it would be hard to incorporate this as she doesn't really do much in the game with both swords but I can't think of anything more creative.

I think it would be neat if they find a way to fit Aerith and Tifa both on the roster. Aerith was just an assist character in Dissidia 012 but I'm sure they are capable of doing so much more with her without making Tifa irrelevant. Of course, I want Tifa also because we need our badass monk in the game!

Villains: I want to see Caius Ballad from Final Fantasy XIII-2. He should be a top choice among fans because he is seriously one of the most badass FF villains in recent memory. Of course, they would have to tone him down and not make him too overpowered, as he is pretty much immortal.

For FF XIV villain representation I think the one that makes the most sense is King Thordan He could use a variety of his moves in the trial and also control the Heavensward as a gimmick. I think it would be really cool.

I will update the OP in the future with more characters but please feel free to contribute.

Cloud does seem to have quite a few charge up attacks. I like Squall's move set because he can pull a target in closer to him AND has draw lmao. Lightning wasn't much of a surprise. Very fast and flashy like I suspected. I could see Cauis making it into the game. However, I think he got nerfed to hell in LR, so I suspect the same would happen in this game. The same applies to Claire as we are only using her FFXIII version and not the LR version. I'd also like to see a character or two that use more hand to hand combat such as Tifa or Zell. I think if those characters were given more mobility options, they could be fun to play as well imo.

I suspect characters like Caius, Yuna, and perhaps even Vincent will get unique abilities. I hope Yuna has a class change ability and multi-EX mode. despite hating X-2, it

Square Enix have shown a first look at Ramza from Final Fantasy Tactics. Gameplay reveal is set for February 3rd and the character will arrive in Japanese arcades on the 4th.

He almost looks too feminine, xD.

Wow... That's a very feminine looking Ramza. The original character always had a young/feminine thing going on, but this time he actually looks like a girl. Next to Ramza, Vaan looks like a hunk.

I don't mind that on its own, but they've made all of the main male characters more feminine in Dissidia than their original game counterparts. I know this is the Japanese ideal of what is considered beautiful (and perhaps the enhanced graphics make it more noticeable), but I do think they've stretched it quite a bit further.

Now I do not mean this as an insult to feminine-identifying males, or transgender people, or girls, etc. I just don't think the cast of characters thus far in any Dissidia game has had a diversity of characters truly representative of what Final Fantasy is really about. We've pretty much only had the male protagonists (in their most androgynous forms possible), with a handful of female leads. They are usually the most obvious choices possible.

Shantotto and Y'shtola are the most experimentive that they have been with the Dissidia cast... And I think that this is only because they represent the online games, and that fewer FF fans are likely to know or care about the characters and who should be included.

To be truly representative of FF we do need some characters such as: Barrett, Cait Sith, Red XIII, Gau, Shadow, Setzer, Galuf, Vivi, Quina, Kimahri, Auron, Lulu, Balthier, Fran, Oerba Dia Vanille (sp?), and so on.

Supporting characters such as the above make the FF universe much more colourful. It's not all about the beardless youth swinging his sword about, and although many of these characters (such as Cloud, Squall, Zidane, etc) are interesting in their own rights as characters (and I do love them), this doesn't seem to be the marketed aspect. Their youthful, feminine faces seem to be instead.

Square Enix have released a trailer showing our new feminine Ramza Beoulve in action. He also joins the fight tomorrow in Japanese Arcades.

I'm getting annoyed that no FF VILLAINS have been shown. Additionally, I don't know why people want Benjamin from FFMQ. But who knows, if FF1 through 4 can have unique attacks, so can Benjamin.

Still want Vivi. He needs to be in this.
