The last 3 days i had Vista i was realy happy about it.But today from 1 second to the other my new lap top had an Black out,and i couldent open it again.
I was working all day on it so i can put the XP again on it.But the bad is i lost everything,Wallpapers,my Final Fantasy games,Videos,Programs just everything is gone.

I dont know if everyone here had some problems with Vista but if you can post them here.

(If this thread is on the wrong place so im sorry, and i hope you can remove it to the right on)

Vista isn't the problem, it was either a power outage, your laptop, or most likely, you motherboard. I'm guessing motherboard, since any computer, vista or not, can have it's motherboard fried in a power outage, which will erase everything. Were you using your laptop when it's power died?

computer tech is my trade i could tell u what happen exactly

u mauy have had to many programs running at the same time or its could just been an simple overload of memory

It isn't possible for the operating system to do something like that, since all the stuff that dissapeared is saved to the memory on the hardrive.

Well i was in the Internet looking the msn but thats it.Any way i had still 48Giga free,on my Lap top i've just the important Programs nothing spezial. The Sad stuff was just i lost all the Fotos of my Clothing work and about 250 FF Wallpapers,20 Avatars,20Sign.Files for my sons school,Fotos from the digital camera e stuff like that.
Now were i work again with XP-professional i hope that never happend again.

Hmm. I've heard of Vista having import issues when attempting to place things from XP on Vista, but not heard of it... shutting off a computer. I'm guessing that's a computer fault, but I'm in the dark here... can't really say for sure.

I for one won't be getting Vista for a looooong time.

I was asking today some friend of mine and he told me that it can be possible that Vista was the problem for shutting down the System so as many other things.
He told me to wait for about 1-2 Years and then i can put in the Vista than it will be ok.

I'm very sorry to hear about your laptop problem.

There could be multiple causes for this.

It's going to depend on what's happening when you try to power on your laptop. Does anything at all happen...lights flash, hear it trying to start up? If it powers on, do you reach a screen that displays an error message?

If absolutely nothing happens when you power it on, the first thing I would do is test to see if the AC adapter is working especially if it was plugged directly into a wall outlet and not a surge protector when the power outage occurred. However to do this you would need a voltmeter or plug it into something else compatible with it, if possible. It could also be a power connector problem, motherboard failure, power supply problem, etc.

If you get power but it halts at an error message, it's important to record this in case you're going to have someone look at it.

Another possibility is hard drive corruption from Windows shutting down unexpectedly and improperly, but this would be more consistent with the laptop powering on but not booting to Windows. One thing to keep in mind is hard drive corruption does not automatically mean all data has been lost.

You may or may not have lost your data. It could be something to the affect of a part needing replacement. It's all really going to depend on what the root cause is. My advice would be to call the company you purchased the laptop from and explain what happened. I know you stated your laptop is new. Do you have a warranty? If so, it should include information on who to call should an issue arise. The best thing to do is not think you lost everything until you know for sure that's the case. My other advice is to back up your data routinely whether it be to an external hard drive, jump drive or CD/DVD.

There is no way Vista is the problem, and your friend, sorry to say, is retarded. OS, no, Virus/blackout/batteries die/any other hard drice related thing, yes.

I went to a friend today he works with Computers and he knows a lot about it,he told me that he must make a Format, and he strongly believes that everything is lost.

While Vista probably isn't the main cause for this, I have seen on many tech forums. I personally think it is the fact that vista uses soooo much memory usage. Plus the fact that laptops overheat so easy.

As mentioned before I think that you should always burn important items on your computer to discs or some other kind of storage.

i've ben helping my friend because it would'nt let him onthe internet unless you have the medium requiremnets to get on the inter net and not it boots him off almost all the times.

hm I don't know about this problem since it never happend to me I had vista on my PC for awhile now and its fine so yeah I have to agree that something might be wrong with you pc and not the OS.

Vista will be good in 2 years. I just got a new kick ass computer, and of course it had to come with Vista. Don't get me started on all the problems i've been having with Vista. I had issues with Trillian, installing warcraft, etc. The worst problem I've had was getting both of my graphic cards to work with ATI Crossfire. I've had a couple of my friends check it out and said it wasn't working because of vista.

I have zero interest in Vista.

OS: X Leopard for Macs looks incredible, and Macs really do work perfectly. The whole compatability thing isn't as bad as you'd expect.

But that really sucks that you probably lost everything. Just the thought of a computer blacking out scares the hell outta me, because I always get blamed and yelled at in my house. I thought it was the end of my life when the family computer's C-Drive failed.

Good luck with recovering your files! Check to make sure that nothing is recoverable before formatting!

Yes, I agree. I don't mean to be a jerk, but since I use a computer all day, every day, for my work, the number one lesson that I have learned, is that it is an act of insanity to install a brand new OS before at least Service Pack 01, and even safer to wait until SP02. (i.e. - the XP experience) There are no performance gains that outweight stability and computing status quo.

I'm sorry for your loss, but hope that you will learn well. Don't be afraid to try Vista, once it's proven. As of right now, it's just the "latest thing". It will get better, but I'm letting others be the live beta testers, for now. ;)
