By the way, this character is intended to be a potential villain, hence her rather crazy powers :\ Not too sure if it’s overpowered though. That’s the purpose of criticism huh? Tell me if it is.
Not to say she can’t be a good character though, both meanings intended. Just a little hard when she’s so aloof.

Name –
Hanae Yasha
Title –
(Prospective) Matriach
Alignment –
Lawful Neutral (Can tend towards Evil or Good under the right circumstances)
Race –
Demon (Special Breed)
Hanae belongs to the race of Demons, but is a special breed. She is born of two pure-blood demons, but is born with an almost fully human appearance and the disability to morph into her demon form. However, she possesses powers far beyond that of an ordinary demon, physically, magically and mentally. A rarity in the world of demons, the Special Breed is said to be born only once every 1000 years to a Pure Blood demon couple.
Gender –
Female
Age –
15
Appearances –

As shown in the image, Hanae has hair of white that reaches all the way down to the back of her knees. She also has wolf ears at the top of her head that identifies her as a demon. Her eyes are a deep shade of grey that makes her seem cold and distant. Hanae’s fair skin also makes her seem like a ghost whenever she moves about at night.
Standing at a height of 156cm, she is comparatively shorter than most. She weighs to be about 49kg as well, fitting in with her slim appearance.
Attire –
As depicted in the image, Hanae is always seen dressed in her trademark red vest with a brownish jacket worn over. She wears a black coloured pair of jeans to top it off, and leather boots as well, rather unnatural considering her generally casual choice of clothing. At her waist, she wears a leather belt, but this is often well hidden by her vest and jacket.
Also, she wears a band with a large red circle on it with stripes streaking out of it- representing the sun- as well as characters around it that mean ‘dog’. At her waist, she also wears another cloth that sports this similar pattern, with the ‘sun’, and the words sewn onto it.
To keep her hair in check, she also wears a band, which is beaded with a ribbon placed on it. A medium-sized metal ball is attached to this band as well. (Use explained below in Fighting Style)
Personality –
Cold and aloof, is what her appearance alone would already suggest. These are also what anyone would discover when they communicate with her. Hanae dislikes speaking, and would rather stay silent to quietly listen to her thoughts rather than to actually open her mouth and engage in an active conversation. In conversations, so long she has an interest, she can give rather casual responses, or formal ones if need be. However, if there is little interest for her, then curt, and possibly rude, responses are to be expected.
She takes a rather neutral stand to most things, though she may sometimes tend towards Evil or Good, depending on the circumstance. For instance, if she sees a fellow demon being bullied, she might actually be nice and help stop the bullies. However, the opposite could happen. She can also choose to ignore, or worse, simply kill both the demon and bullies. It really depends on her at the point in time. She tends to leaves decisions concerning her alignment to her mood at the point in time.
That is not to say that she makes random decisions all the time. She may not be the most intellectual, but she is wise enough to think before her actions- particularly in some serious business like dealing with humans, or within her own family.
Also, like her innate animal, she is a lone wolf. She doesn’t like working as a team, and is more confident working alone than working with others. Hanae calls it a ‘burden’ whenever she works in a team, and has often caused the team to fall apart because of her comments when they fail her expectations.
First Impression –
In a word, cold. She seems very unapproachable, and anyway, would rather be alone than approached. Though, she may keep up a casual conversation if the person that approaches her seems nice enough to make her interested. Too bad for the person if otherwise, as she’ll simply ignore him to go elsewhere.
Strength –
Unlike most demons, Hanae has immense strength that far overwhelms most of the demons around her. She is strong enough to lift a boulder of 100kg with both arms, and only a little bit of difficulty, above her head for about 14 seconds before having to put it down. If translated into some melee attacks, the person on the receiving end can expect to fly some distance back whenever he gets punched by her. Her katana strikes are rather powerful as well because of this reason.
Vitality –
Due to her being a Special Breed of Demons, her ability to withstand physical hurt is strong. Assuming there is a car speeding towards her at 100km/h, any ordinary human will die, and, like any ordinary demon, she will only break a couple of bones.
Magical strikes do even lesser damage to her, due to her magical affinities. However, she is particularly susceptible to air element spells- quite an irony considering her preference to using air element spells.
She is also more weak towards enchanted metals (Of any type, specifically air though).
Assume a case where a person exerts enough strength with a blade enough to chop off another person’s arm. If the blade is not enchanted, and when the blade hits her, the worst Hanae suffers is a deep gash. If the blade is enchanted, ouch, the blade can cut really deep into her arm, though not enough to effectively sever it from her.
Piercing weapons like spears, whether or not it is enchanted, does its full damage to Hanae. However, a normal spear void of any enchantments is more likely to break after inflicting some hurt on Hanae. Assume a scenario where the attacker drives the spear with enough force to impale an ordinary person not wearing any armour. An ordinary spear only pierces halfway through, while an enchanted weapon would be able to achieve a complete impalement.
Generally, it is safe to assume the effects of most physical attacks without enchantments are halved, and magical attacks that are not of the element of air are quartered. Attacks are about ¾ effective, for blunt and slashing weapons; full damage for piercing weapons. Magical attacks that are of the element of air delivers its full damage provided it hits Hanae directly.
Speed –
Despite her innate animal being a ‘wolf’, she doesn't use her speed as most other demons sharing this same innate animal do. Her top speed is about 26km/h. However, in battle, she rarely utilizes any side-stepping.
Nevertheless, her sword strikes are swift and precise. Every strike is always a blur, but comes at rather lengthy intervals- for a fast paced combat- with perhaps, only 4 strike every ten seconds.
Stamina –
Once again, her being a Special Breed shows itself here. In battle, she can hold her fort for up to hours on end- assuming she uses only physical attacks. With magic attacks, she can last only about 15 to 20 minutes. Much of this is due to her Fighting Style. When running, she can sustain her top speed for up to an hour, assuming she hadn’t used up much energy prior to the run. Otherwise, a short rest of about 2 minutes is enough for her to regain energy needed to run for another half an hour.
Reflexes –
Her reflexes are supernatural, again due to her race. Her ears can detect sounds around her that most people can barely hear. Shoot an arrow from behind her, she can turn fast enough to slice it into two, or side step to evade it- the former is preferred. Not even a crossbow bolt can get to her fast enough; they are just as easily dodged as the arrow.
The same goes for sword strikes, which are easier to evade. However, her reflexes will start to dull as the battle wears on, though that would mean quite some time into the battle, say 45 minutes or so. The best way to catch her off guard is through magic spells, largely because she doesn’t know how the spell works most of the time, and sometimes, the spells tend to be propelled faster than she can react to.
More often than not, she’ll always try to block the attack with her katana, but it doesn’t always work.
Fighting Style –
In battle, her style is to simply stand and wait for her enemy to strike first. She’ll continue waiting for the subsequent strikes, attacking only in the form of counterattacks until her enemy is too weak to put up much of a fight. Only then does she actually move to attack the person and kill him.
As stated, she always stands without moving waiting for the enemy to strike, keeping an upright posture with her blade facing the enemy. When he strikes, she uses her blade to block, push him away slightly then slash. If it fails, then it’s a repeat of the cycle over and over till the enemy is done. If the enemy is observably weak, however, she’ll either finish him off in one of the counter attacks, or simply take one step forward to cut him down- literally.
Note, also, that she wields the blade with one hand, which is weaker than two hands, but significantly faster and easier to wield about.
If she encounters a really strong foe that is where there is just a little bit of difference to her style. While she still maintains that upright posture, she is no longer stationary at the spot, moving towards her enemy at walking pace, and running only when she intends to unleash her ‘Gale Slash’ attack. She’ll also begin to summon her Demon Spirit to help aid her in battle. (What the Demon Spirit is capable of is detailed below under Abilities)
More of her magic attacks may be used, though ‘Gale Slash’ is the only one she executes with a run towards her enemy.
Her style does not change no matter the distance between herself and her enemy. It is only when her enemy is out of range of her spells, that she will run for the enemy to close the gap.
Weapons –
Yasha
Hanae’s family weapon passed down through the generations. It is always stored in an alternate dimension with her family’s patron demon spirit, the Twin-Headed Wolf. When summoned, a white coloured wind will always stir and swirl around Hanae. This wind forms into the shape of the wolf, with its two heads, one holding the blade in the mouth, the other the hilt on its head.
Yasha is a magical blade, and cannot be broken. It is physically invulnerable and also resistant enough to all magical elements such that it will not take much damage no matter how powerful the spell is. That aside, it does not grant these abilities to its user.
The user gains no special abilities from holding this blade, except that it is easier to channel magic spells through the sword, and that it is so light that one can barely feel the katana in his hands. The katana’s blade spans about 80cm in length, and the hilt is about 30cm. Like most katanas, the blade is curved and sharper on one end.
There is also a faint glow from the metal of the blade itself, largely due to the Demon Spirit.
Abilities –
Demon Spirit- Twin Headed Wolf
Easily the most powerful Demon Spirit one can summon in the Yasha family. After all, it is the Yasha family’s own patron Demon Spirit. Demon Spirits are spirits that Demon can summon to aid them in their battles, journeys and the whatnot. They are like a demon’s personal assistant that can offer guidance in times of need. Demon Spirits are used in battle most of the time though.
Nevertheless, Hanae has the ability to call upon the assistance of the Twin Headed Wolf. Unlike most Demon Spirits which can be called into existence and actually help physically in battle, the Twin Headed Wolf cannot do so. Instead, it can only stay within proximity of Hanae and her katana, Yasha.
What it can do though, is something other Demon Spirits cannot- magic. From the blade, the Wolf is able to perform multi-casting, due to its twin heads. If Hanae wishes, she could actually ask the wolf to cast the same spell, and she herself does the same. The effect would be a greatly amplified spell that is far beyond its ordinary proportion. If an ordinary Gale Slash attack sends a gust of wind that can cut only slightly into a tree 5m away, a Gale Slash with the three entities casting it will be able to cut through that tree and halfway into the tree 2m behind.
Other than helping boost the spells, the wolf is also able to perform other magical tasks, like healing Hanae, only minor wounds like shallow cuts, bruises, and restoring serious ones like an impalement to cease the bleeding internally- though leaving an open wound. Or it can also help make the battle more complex, by casting other random spells at will. A scenario would probably be an enemy having to deal with three different types of spells coming at him all at once.
The fallback about the Twin Headed Wolf is the fact that it can only coordinate its choice of spells for each head. It cannot control where each head attacks, so the different spells always strike the same spot.
Also, to maintain the pact with the Twin Headed Wolf, Hanae must, on the night of full moons, slit her wrists with Yasha, and offer the blood to the blade- or specifically the Wolf in the blade. The Wolf drinks from her blood, and renews its pact with Hanae. It also recovers its magical abilities from the blood. However, Hanae must never use the sword on nights with full moon, as the blood drawn from another would result in the Wolf forming a pact with the enemy- if the Wolf likes the blood of the other enemies. The wolf only drinks on nights with full moons, so forget about other ordinary days.
Because of this consumption of Hanae’s blood, the Wolf never has to tap into Hanae’s magical capacity to use spells. However, it can only last for a maximum of 24minutes before it’ll get lazy and return to its dimension. It can be summoned again with much persuasion, however, though tries have proven it to take almost two hours.
Magic –
Gale Slash
Easily Hanae’s trademark move. It involves a simple slashing action of her sword, Yasha, in an upward arc. The magic channelled into the blade is released in the form of wind that can slice through targets depending on the distance from Hanae. 5 meters is the maximum in which it can deliver any substantial hurt.
Mana Cost: < 1%
Devastate
By channelling her magical energies into the sword, Hanae summons a quickly emerging spike from the earth, which explodes into smaller shuriken-like pieces all around. These pieces explode after travelling for about a meter. The pieces itself are sharp enough to embed itself shallowly in armour, but when it explodes, it is sure to do more damage, both to the armour and to the person- through blunt trauma.
Mana Cost: 3%
The spike emerges at a speed of 100km/h, with a warning loud rumbling sound for about 4 seconds before it emerges. This spike only explodes after being there for about 5 seconds, giving ample time for anyone to stay a meter away from it. The exploding pieces fly at a similar speed to the spike itself.
Howling Flames
This spell is yet another trademark of Hanae. When casted, there will be a resounding howl from the Wolf inside Yasha. The blade will then be engulfed in flames, which allows Hanae to fight with fire elements imbued in her every strike. Alternatively, she can deliver a Gale Slash like attack, without causing the flame enchantment to dissipate. These flames are perpetually howling, though more softly after the initial howl.
Mana Cost: 5%
The spell happens instantaneous after casting, and lasts for a 5 minutes. These flames are like any ordinary flame, though it does not affect Hanae at all.
Dancing Death
Like its name, Hanae performs a morbid dance with Yasha that causes death to be dealt out by the shadows. When she starts dancing and chanting the incantation, the shadows will begin moving towards her, and swirl into a physical black mass. This black mass splits itself into replicas of Hanae and rushes at the enemy to slay them bare handed.
Mana Cost: 10%
The spell only happens after Hanae completes both dance and incantation. It could be interrupted, but the dance is designed in such a way that physical attacks would have to come in at the right segments of the dance to affect it. Otherwise, the dance would simply have Hanae move in a fashion that conveniently protects her from the attack. Magical attacks are probably the best way to interrupt the spell.
The dance usually takes about a minute, and the shadows last for 5 minutes as well. However, if all the shadows are slain before the duration ends, 3% of the mana used returns to Hanae.
The shadow replicas of herself only share her similar strength, but not her physical or magical defence. A simply sword slash would easily slay the replica.
Silent Treatment
Placing an index to her lips, Hanae simply mutters ‘sh’ to cause this spell to happen. The spell simply enchants her every single movement such that there isn’t any sound produced from it. In short, Howling Flames would now be a silent one. Hanae could probably shout, but that’ll go unheard as well. The rumbling from Devastate would still be obvious though.
Mana Cost: 15%
This spell lasts 7 minutes, and can be interrupted when Hanae casts another spell. It doesn’t count if the Wolf casts the spell though, or if she had casted a spell prior to Silent Treatment. If broken midway though, 4% of the mana used returns to Hanae.
Demon Aura
Hanae may not have a demon form like most other Demons, but she is able to release her aura in a way that no other Demons can. Other demons usually are only capable of revealing an aura that identifies them to be demons, nothing more. Hanae is able to release the aura such that it heightens her physical attributes, and potency of her spells.
Mana Cost: 25%
Her physical attributes would refer generally to her endurance in battle, as the other physical factors exhibit little difference. In short, if she were to cast this when she’s tired, she will be able to get a strength boost that can keep her going for the duration of the spell as if she had just started the battle. Her spells are stronger as well:
Gale Slash has increased effective distance, by 1 meter.
Howling Flames has increased spell duration, by a minute.
Devastate’s exploding pieces can fly two meters now.
Dancing Death has stronger shadow minions, in terms of defence. It can now withstand any magical attack, physical defence remains unchanged.
Silent Treatment costs lesser, at 10%.
This spell cannot be casted by the Wolf.
Spirit Summoning
Hanae summons her Demon Spirit. (Detailed above under Abilities)
Mana Cost: 40%
History –
Hanae was born to the pure blood children of the head of the Yasha clan. Her parents were from different branches of the family, and had fallen into a forbidden love. Hanae was the fruit of that love, and was initially regarded as an outcast by the Clan Patriarch at the time. Still, through the interceding of her father, she was kept within the family to be a servant; however, her mother had to be killed for their sins.
She was brought up peacefully for the next few years, taught to be a servant in the Clan, when at the age of 6, out of playfulness; she accidentally goes into the Clan’s sacred chamber of worship. A katana was sitting at the end of the room on a sword stand, and she, in a mischievous moment, rushes up to grab the katana by its shiniest end, the blade.
Naturally, she cut herself, but it woke the spirit in the blade. Emerging from the blade in a swirl of white, the Wolf didn’t scare the little girl at all. Instead, she even patted the Wolf on its head as it asked her a question. “Do you wish to form a pact with me?”
Without much thinking, she simply said ‘yes’ and the pact formed just then. By the time her Clan Head (Grandfather) found out, the pact was already formed, and Hanae was already crying because of the cut on her hands. She was given a serious scolding and was almost sent away when her father interceded once again.
The Katana had been the Clan’s most treasured weapon as it houses the Clan’s patron Demon Spirit, the Twin Headed Wolf. Traditionally, only the Clan Heads are able to wield the blade and use the spirit, but for some time, the Clan Heads are unable to stir the Spirit in the blade despite following all the aspects of the ritual during the full moon appropriately.
This led to several suspicions that the Clan Head may not be of the correct bloodline in the first place, and this had been reasons that led to several internal political tussles. Hanae’s emergence as presently, the only person capable of using the blade was about to impact the Clan’s other branches.
The Clan is distributed into various branches, each with their own innate animals. Hanae belongs to the Wolves, which is the highest ranking in the Clan. Following, is the Cat, which are the middle ranked. The lowest ranked are generally the other animals, particularly the Dogs and Rats. There had always been a conflict between all these branches, as they all wanted a sort of democracy that allowed their respective champions to be leader of the Clan.
With the realization that Hanae could truly wield the blade, the other branches could not stay quiet. They were displeased that the true leaders had once again been identified to be amongst the Wolf Branch in the Clan. Secretly dispatching assassins, they attempted to eliminate the Clan Head, but only succeeding in getting to his son, Hanae’s father.
The Clan Head was shocked, and promptly knew of the need to keep Hanae and make her strong so that the Wolf Branch will not be eliminated.
For Hanae, she was vengeful with the desire to take revenge.
Training promptly started thereafter, and Hanae didn’t bother so much about its rigorousness in view of the ability to take revenge later on. It was during one of her magic trainings that they also found out she was a Special Breed.
Special Breeds are a rarity that comes only once in a 1000 years, and that gave the Wolf Branch a huge morale boost, when they realized their future leader would be a Special Breed- potentially the most powerful leader they’ll ever have in their generations. Hanae started to receive special treatments from the other members of the Branch, though she remains apparently oblivious to them.
At the age of 12, she had fully mastered all of what had been taught to her. Being a Special Breed showed itself when she easily bested all her combat instructors in battle, embarrassing them in front of her fellow students. The Clan Head was pleased, and then bestowed the blade to Hanae once again, taking personal charge of her education from the instructors.
She was taught about how to utilize the blade and the spirit within. Finally, at age 13, the Clan Head was pleased to say she was ready for the outside world. Hanae had already gained ample skills that would keep her alive in battles, and anyway, he thought, she was a Special Breed. There was little need to be too concerned for her.
She was allowed to leave the Clan and roam about in the world to gain some experience and see how the outside world is like. Outside, she was ostracised by the humans, and badly treated no matter which city she went. Ultimately, she settled on travelling with a cloak and hood drawn over her head, but that minimised most of her interaction with the Humans.
She didn’t manage to put her combat skills to use until she faced several bandits on the road. Cruelly, she cut these bandits down. Those were her first real kills, and she delivered them coldly, expressionlessly. As she saw the blood oozing from their wounds, she suddenly remembered her father. The desire for revenge emerged again, and in a frantic desire to take revenge, she hurriedly returns to the Clan.
However, she goes in stealthily, into the other branches, attempting to find out who were the greatest assassins in each of these clans. This was her first interaction with other branches- speaking to the common people of the Branch. She saw the other branches were not as well off than the Wolf Branch, but nevertheless still sought out those assassins.
One by one, her father’s assassins were sought out and slain. Her journey for revenge brought her from branch to branch, and through it, she unintentionally learned about the pathetic states of some of these branches. She knew the need to give them a better life or face a rebellion when it all gets too much and a leader rises to the occasion to cause trouble.
When she finally cut down her last enemy, the year was drawing to a close, and she returned to her own Branch. She was widely celebrated, and officially revealed to the other Branches as the next Matriarch of the Clan. Demonstrating her ability to summon the patron Demon Spirit, she managed to earn the apparent ‘trust’ of the other branches.
They had no choice but to support her after all, now that they have proven that their next leader is of the correct bloodline.
The idea of assassination was immediately thought of, but when they tried to gather the assassins, they realized their strongest assassins who had infiltrated the Wolf Branch before had all been killed. Left with little choice, they could only appear submissive while preparing to train stronger assassins to one day gets rid of Hanae.
However, Hanae herself is already prepared to handle this imminent crisis. She intended to create an elite force separate from and stronger than the Wolves to prove her leadership abilities. Then, she would make use of the other branches that would rally themselves around her to overthrow the current Clan Head. Initially, the intent was to simply force him to step down, but when she stumbled upon her father’s diary and found out about how her mother was killed, it changed into ‘forcing him to die’ or ‘killing him’.
She knew it would be foolish to kill the Clan Head now, since the murderer would be obviously the next in line- at least from the perspective of the outsiders.
Pretending to still be his loyal granddaughter, she first went into the Dog branch and assassinated their leaders secretly. It caused quite a stir amongst the clan, and naturally, the Clan Head had to step in. It was there, she suggested to them and the crowd that she could take leadership of the Dog Branch. The Clan Head was surprised, while the crowd disagreed, thinking it to be some plot in which the Wolf Branch will take control of every branch.
She then promised them openly that she’ll make the Dog Branch into the strongest elite force in the Clan, to the horror of the Clan Head, who thought it impossible, and threatening, since the Wolves were presently the strongest- which also is how they kept their power. Nevertheless, the crowd didn’t believe that was possible as well, so they promptly agreed, thinking her to be extremely foolish. Her grandfather the Clan Head could do nothing when the crowd appeared so supportive.
Hanae was given the opportunity. Thereafter, she started leading the Dogs, starting first by forming a strong relationship, since there was animosity between the Dogs and the Wolves, due to their status difference. Another reason why she wanted to butter up relationship was because of the fact that her mother had belonged to the Dog Branch.
With that done, she went on to prove her strength in a friendly match: her against all of the Dogs’ elite forces. She single-handedly defeated all of them, without the use of any weapon too. Amazed by this physical feat, the Dogs decided to try letting her train them.
A year goes by, and Hanae is now 15. The Dogs are now well trained, and also one of the strongest. In a recent inter-branch fighting competition, the Dogs managed to defeat the Wolves to achieve the title of Champions for the first time ever. This came as a huge surprise to the other branches as well as the Dogs. For the Dogs, their unwavering loyalty to Hanae was now certain, while to the other branches; they were starting to wonder about her future reign.
The Clan Head was now worried, and starting to demand her return to the Wolf Branch. Hanae simply responds that there is a need to choose a leader for the Dogs that would submit to the Wolves, and unable to deny this need, the Clan Head allowed her to stay; only under the condition that she returns after is done. There, she chooses her new leader, one of her loyal subordinates.
She reveals to him her plans, and tells him to garner the support of the other branches. She then returns to the Wolf Branch to placate her Clan Head, as well as to gather the support of the Wolves, to completely the overthrowing of the Clan Head.
Not to say she can’t be a good character though, both meanings intended. Just a little hard when she’s so aloof.
