Well I think you should use photoshop. I would say that is the best program for you to become a gfx artist. Well as for me Photoshop is pretty annoying. You can use gimp but thats so much harder.

Aye Photoshop is the best for you to use IMO, I don't think CS3 sucks I liked it. >.< although I'm using CS2 now and try look up for tuts at the start until you get used to it.
