Okay, since I've been here, I've been wondering something for the longest time and hoping that maybe, just maybe, that it would be added into the BBCode.

Well, I own a FC and all my members posts lots of images and or links to the images and it stretches the page even as links.

So, I was wondering...why don't we have the spoiler code that actually hides what's suppose to be spoiled? We have something that blacks out words, but that's all.

It's getting frustrating, ya know? :gasp:

So, maybe we could have it added? ;))

Well, for stretching the page as links... if you put [url =-inserturlhere-]linkname[/url] you'll get the text that says "linkname" instead of the long url.

Like this: FFF

I'm not sure on the images though.

Oh, well that is awfully time consuming. What if we have so many urls is stretches the page down?

Adding a spoiler tag would be a lot more effective and better. :)

I think this is a good idea, but not sure if we have it at all. It would be effective since I've seen quite a few people moaning about seeing FFXIII spoilers. If it would help for that and any other upcoming games or anything no one else wants to see, then I think it would be a useful thing to have.

Well, all that has to bee done is either a download package installed or you just type the code into the Admin's panel about BBCode.

Yes, I personally got a little upset when Dissidia was being talked about and no one could use spoilers :(

I vaguely remembering hearing about this not being a good idea because people could supposedly abuse the hell of the tags and just put mountains of stuff in their sig area or something :hmmm:

But I'm not against the idea - I go on two other vBulletin forums that have those kind of spoiler tags.

And yeah, I've already been spoiled a few times by pics already. I got spoiled about Dissidia's ending in a thread that had nothing to do with Dissidia Dx

Frankly if people are sharing so many image links that it stretches the screen, they're aught to shorten their posts to what is most useful and relevant to the topic at hand. It also requires Javascript, which means it doesn't work on most mobile browsers.

I agree. Even though the Spoiler tag we already have is nice, people will always be curious and just hover their mouse pointer over the spoiler. Though spoilers never seem to faze me, I've seen how people can get upset.

So if there's ever a poll about another type of spoiler tag being added, you'll definitely get a Yes from me. I'm behind the idea 100%

Hmmm interesting. There is an automatic function on this website that automatically shrinks down the image, so nothing should be stretching the page. It shrinks it down and you have to click on it to see the full image. So there shouldn't be any problems on this site with overly large images. At least that's how it is and has always been for me. As for the suggestion, I'm not sure if our current version offers anything as such.

Good point actually. I have seen plenty of other forums with a hide function so members can open them if they want to. In the case of spoilers it certainly does a better job of hiding them than spoiler tags because an accidental scroll over them can reveal it instantly.

I would use a hide function for spoilers, but maybe not for images. Mandi is right, the site automatically shrinks the image to a smaller size with a bar at the top able to enlarge this. I've seen this done with images I uploaded in the news section. Perhaps a hide function would also work well if there are a lot of uploaded images in one post for people wishing to skip it without continuous downward scrolling.

I would support this suggestion.

This would probably the main problem. I think you would also have to personally find the code for LG to upload since he probably doesn't have enough time to do it himself. All being said, it may be worth talking to LG in general if you're given the go ahead since he'll probably know more about the pros and cons of it. I don't see an immediate disadvantage though.

Although there are spoiler codes that you have to click a button to reveal the spoiler which are probably equally as effective.

There is a way to prevent the members from using the spoiler tags in the signature. Its in the admin panel ^^

I said FC. There is a reason they post so many images.
